about 132-138 hp now (bought the car used and the owner said he didn't know,,,[?!?]) by chipping,,, but would like a little more power,,, what should i do?
upgrade the deisel injectors look on www.tdiclub.com and follow the links in the tdifaqs
The injectors don't look like a good idea for a chipped car.
What do you drive? I've seen some 110hp ibizas with different/bigger intercoolers.
i drive a 90bhp w reg cordoba chipped to 122bhp. my next mod is bigger injectors, but not the biggest!! is your toledo the 110?? if so there's probably no point in upgrading the injectors anyway, as there might be a slight risk element. Intercoolers are another option but very expensive, a bigger intercooler also takes up more space, so battery position etc.. can cause a lot of interim works. there are other small but expensive mods like a powerflow exhaust, giving approx 5-10 bhp, reposition your piperx or k&n cone filter (presuming you have one??) into the wheel arch housing (do it yourself it's a lot cheaper but look at this link!!) http://forums.tdiclub.com/NonCGI/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=4;t=004866 . you could also try cleaning your intercooler as they get very shitty, the air/oil mixture turns into a black gunk and collects at the bottom of your intercooler, so to do this one saturday morning will make a slight difference, follow the link http://www.tdiclub.com/TDIFAQ/TDiFAQ-7.html#f or do an intercooler intake mod, follow, http://www.tdiclub.com/TDIFAQ/TDiFAQ-6.html#e7 apart from easy stuff, there's turbo upgrades, de-catting, watercooled intercooler upgrades, follow http://www.tdiclub.com/TDIFAQ/TDiFAQ-6.html#e9, anyway, i think there's enough to keep you going for now, keep me posted!!
cheers

The pics look really good.
My toledo is the 150 PD engine. I not really looking to do anything, because I drive 80000km/yr and am a little worried about decreased engine longevity. I might upgrade the hosing to SAMCO silicone hoses. I'm still wondering if the samco hoses are worth it.
get it upsoluted, it will give you an extra 50'ish bhp!! it will not decrease the performance of your engine!! the engine can take a hell of a bigger beating than a chip, it's the other components that are not as reliable.
p.s, you jammy git, i'm waiting for the 150 to be released in the uk, then i'm going to chip it straight away!!!
The 150pd is a bit rougher than the 130pd and alot noisier than the 110 I had in the ibiza.
As far as chipping is concerned, I have tendencies towards the quasi-OE companies (like ABT or Oettinger). I guess it's because they're in closer contact with the VW factory engineers, so theoretically they should better know what to optimize. ????
I've heard good things about upsoluted but I've also heard some nightmares stories regarding superchips and wetterauer.
Hears a true story for U:
Me and a friend both owned Ibiza '98 GT TDI (110 hp). He chipped his I didn't (I think he had a Superchips??). His car was always much faster than mine, obviously!!
In 2001 we both traded in our cars (my car had 227000km his about 130000km), but before the trade-in he removed the chip. We retested both our cars, and mine was always a least a cars length faster than his (best out of six, with driver change).
Granted I don't know if the cars were serviced in the exact same manner, our normal driving stlyes are very different, as are the roads we normally drive (he does mostly city, I do mostly highway driving). This is the reason why I'm warry of chipping my car.
why worry though if there is a fractional performance decrease when you're trading your car in anyway?? my cousin has a tdi ibiza, and before we both chipped our cars his was fractionally faster than mine, but now we've both been upsoluted my car has the edge now!!! you worry too much, get it chipped and reap the benefits!!!:D
I guess Ur right, but then again I have seen a couple of cars with prematurely blown turbos:eek:
All where superchiped! From what I've heard the turbo for the 150pd (which is different from the rest) is MEGA-$$$$$.
I have to admit that I am very tempted to chip the car!! I might just go for it.
That is after ICEing the car.
they don't all come with the same turbo, yours will be mega $$$$ because it will be a bigger turbine, it will probable be the same as the turbo out of the 2.5tdi quattro A4. your turbo will take twice as much power as it originally producing, and extract bit of air through your turbo is nothing compared to the added load on the clutch flywheel. Your car will be mint, if my 90bhp can take 32bhp + the new injectors which will be another 15-20 bhp, the I'm sure your whopping turbo can withstand the extra push. The reason your car produces 150bhp over 130bhp is the new injection configuration, they have redeveloped the deisel injection system and without compromising any other engine systems have managed to produce an extra 20bhp!! amazing!! speak to your local upsolute dealer and get his opinion, or contact this guy who works for upsolute in austria, and mention my name cos we have spoken alot recently regarding my cars performance. support@upsolute.com, the contact name is Ali Galisir, on the support desk, give him all your questions and even ask him to give you a call!! if you are unsure about upsolute, you could even ask for a removable installation where you can swop the chips over yourself within 5 minutes, and for £300 ($450 U.S) it is a very reasonable installation. it doesn't hurt to ask!!

Scott,
Thanks for the info, I will contact upsolute (you're the 2nd person who really gives them the thumbs up). I'm not sure if there's a local guy? It seems that choosing the instalation shop is one of the most important steps!
As far as the turbos concerned it's not the same as the 2.5tdi (maybe the same as the 180 2.5 but not the 150 2.5). The turbine is made out of titanium :D (that's why the Mega-$$$$). It does 2.6 bars and has a very strange whistling noise when compared to the other tdi's (the whistle has a much more metallic sound).

nice turbo whisttle indeed, though I don't think it goes to 2.6 bar. From what I read in the Swiss homologation papers for the VeeDub Golf TDi 150 the actuator operates between 0.9bar and 1.8bar. Which is largely sufficient. 2.6bar would be extremely high.
Oh and when you decide to up the power, put some money to the side for a fresh set of front tyres.
I'm at 184bhp and 410Nm now and very happy I have 4WD for those clean getaways.
I read it in some Portugues car magazine. I remember it saying that the 130 did 2.2 and the 150 2.6. I agree that it is very high. maybe it's the max value that the turbo can put out, and not the value that it is putting out ?????
I was going to pickup the Cupra TDI4, but was advised against it by my mechanic. The extra fuel consumption + higher maintenance cost made me pick up the toledo instead (at the time the normal Leon TDI was not available).
What chip are U running?

Higher maintenance cost should still be within reasonable limits. Brake discs and pads will wear out faster due to increased weight. But that's about it. I change oil every 7500km, but that is advisable in any TDi PD engine, regardless of weight.
Fuel consumption is higher, but this is not tremendous. Even now, I can stay below 7l/100km. And as diesel fuel is a lot cheaper than unleaded over here, I'm not too bothered with that.
I had the chip custom made by Kempower, written on the dyno. What struck me at first was the giant leap forward in smoothness. You will probably be familiar with the 3000rpm dip. Somewhere close to 3000rpm I would always feel a noticeable dip in performance. The engine always felt like it didn't want to rev over this level. This surprised as my wife's Seat Ibiza TDi 110 always loved revving from tickover to 4k and over.
Now with the ECU remapping, mine is just as rev happy, only a lot more powerful. Also, smoke levels have gone down. Oh, and then there's the torque :D . It's uhr, how shall I put this ... massive.
Accelerating from 1.5k rpm in 2nd and 3rd is fast (very fast). Pickup in 4th and 5th is a lot better as well. And even in 6th the difference is very noticeable.
Now it's on to the next upgrades ;) or a company car :o
I guess it is reasonable, but cheaper is always better! I drive 80000km/yr. Diesel is 0.69Euro/l hear in Portugal and I usually have the car running between 5.8-6.1l/100km.
You change oil every 7500KM, wow!. In the manual it says filter & oil every 15000km (that's what I do). I use Motul Synergy 6100 505.01.
Yes there is a dip in performance around 3000rpm. What annoys me the most is the drop after 4000rpm.
As you mentioned correctly, the 110 ibiza loves to rev, even past the 4000rpm mark. The motor is also much smoother than the 150.

well i drive a 2000 1.9 tdi SE,,, it was a 110 hp before chipping it,,, I just can't upsolute it since there are no upsolute dealers in italy,,, i guess injectors are a little bit of exepensive as for now (kinda broke after buying the little rocket), and i'd like to do a lot of kms with the car,,, maybe a too extreme mod would harm the engine,,,
guess i'll go for a complete exhaust system and a new air filter (maybe a direct one) when owning enough money for that,,,
as for now, i got a panel under the car which is rattling all the time and i just can't fix it 'cause i ain't got a place to pull up the car,,, i'll go to a mechanic,,,
Again i hear an horrible noise comin from left front suspension, i just don't know what it is,,, it squeeks a lot, and does a sort of a metallic grasping sound, seems that something needs to be greased,,, anyway none on the ibiza forum could help me it seems,,,
could this be a gone shock absorber?
I can also hear a clear consumed-brakepads sound and i'll have to hange that too,,,anyway the brakepads sensor light doesn't turned up at this time,,, but i'll check,,,
a bit of money to be spent,,,
thx to anyone
