Okay first things first.. you will need..

a small metal works...Mackays of cambridge did mine

get a piece of Aluminium cut 6mm thick by 7 1/2 inch x 2 1/2 inch

next step you have 3 options

with a power drill and a 54mm metal hole saw

ask the small metal work if they can cut a 54mm hole into the piece of metal.

find someone with a bench drill.

left with something like this

it'll be tight aand will have to file down the top so the bottom sits in and you push firmly in (not gonna go anywhere)

just plumb in guage push into hole,

Oh and forgot to add mine cost absolutly £0 :D as it was an off cut in the scrap, they cut it for free, and i drilled the holes when i got home. The sterio keys were left in my car when i picked it up so no need to buy or pay seat to move it around :D. Then just finished the piece off by rubbing it with some wire wool and getting rid of a few scratches.

it fits in better without alluminium background and the dial in centred looks like it should be there.

Triple D
13-10-2006, 19:17
erm i have no idea mate, probably peak at about 30 psi i would have thought in them gears, maybe 33 at the most

redcupratdi
13-10-2006, 19:23
would it make much difference in boost readings taking the guage of before the inlet manifold just before the EGR valve... mines seems v high boost.

WHAT EVER GIRLFRIENDS
No Mate,

mine then mine then mine! LMAO
i think if it was more brushed aluminium then it would look a bit better the aluminium looks better on the fr as the dash is silver unlike the cupra!
but at least we have tried different things that is what makes are cars good!

Think it'd look better with two gauges in there IMO.

Think it'd look better with two gauges in there IMO.

Thats what my original plan was, i was gonna get a oil temp and pressure gauge to go on the other side.

I have a pic to upload and show you what my new boost is running now, will upload shortly :D

redcupratdi
16-10-2006, 17:04

Well, as you all know, with the cooler weather that we have had recently, our cars have been performing better due to the denser air.
Yesterday on the way to my gf house, came down the M6 and had a play with a red leon cupra 20vt. Got off at Jct3 and checked me boost gauge for the maximum egt as i had cained it in 5th to about 4.5k. To my horror i had spiked at 89.1 psi :-o :wtf:, so off the motorway, gave it some beans down a dual carridge way and pulled into a layby, checked again and it had increase, by quite a bit

In Psi

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c13/spaniels_fr_130/New%20turbo%20and%20guage/IMAGE_030.jpg

In BAR

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c13/spaniels_fr_130/New%20turbo%20and%20guage/IMAGE_031.jpg

So its true, with cooler air it does make you produce loads and loads a boost

so YES I AS GOT DA BOOST INNIT ;)

Triple D
16-10-2006, 17:33
 what you got it to know  ill not say anything

Oh gaz, today i hit 233 psi aparently , think me gauge may be fooked :roflmao:

gazjones
16-10-2006, 17:36
:-o who needs bigger turbo just a shame your injectors didnt cope with that increase in boost :roflmao: it would have taken half a tank away from you

gazjones
16-10-2006, 17:37
