To chip or not to chip.....
When I get my Tdi110 SE, I have the choice to up it with Upsolute or APR, but how much des this on average put on the insurance.
My best quote so far for me 30 year old, no point, accidents, full no claims is £438.
What do you think the effect will be after chipping.
Do they just double it 'cos they think you're a nut.
:jog:
Also, who are good to check out for this type of insurance?
Thanks
David

Brand wont usually affect cost, whether it apr or upsolute etc... Its power increase that affects price so if for example apr is 10% power increase and upsoloute 20%, upsolute more to insure. Most people tell the insurance that its an ECU re-map with 10% power gains and it usually adds £100 on top of most policies. Now whether that a fixed price or a percentage of policies i dont know....

depends ont he insurance company. quite afew will not cover you. liverpool victoria, admiral (elephant, bell direct), greenlight accept chips. one thing you may find is that your excess will increase. My GT is with greenlight. they replace like for like unlike Admiral

Not if they've got any sense they dont. Best to be completely honest and avoid any problems. If you've got APR best to say 20% then if you prang it there's no issues.
Insurance reps aren't stupid, all they need to do is look at APR/AmD/Upsolutes web site to see what the outputs are....

Absolutly.
On one Enquiry that I have made I have actually emailed the spec from upsolutes web site myself.
The Upsolute chip increase bhp from 110 to 143. A 30% increase.
:D
Got to be done at some point.:jog:
