View Full Version : remote central locking
can someone please help me.
i have a 97 ibiza cupra sport 8v . My remote has steadily been getting worse over the past few months.
i have changed the batteries twice to no avail.
The remote is deifnately transmitting a signal, as i have tested this with a radio receiver, but the car just doesnt seem to respond very often.
Any ideas ?
Where is the module in the car which should receive the radio signal ?
Please someone help, using the key to unlock the car is a pain.
main module is up by the mirror (reciever) the pump (air type) is in the boot , sounds like its gettin lazy , or has a leak
have you trie re-programming it , it shows how in the handbook . if you cant find it try this :
1 turn ignition on (red lights) then OFF within 5 secs
2 press the LOCK button down and hold it
3 immediately press the unlock button 3 times (whilst holdin down the LOCK button
4 release all , remote LED should FLASH and the doors should LOCK/UNLOCK
5 if not try it with the buttons in 2+3 reversed .
still no joy , may need remote ? or other parts
PS when done LEAVE IGNITION ON for 10 sec @ least
:) good luck :)
The main module you mention, I think the one by the mirror is for the infra red remote. I have the radio controlled version. The rear view mirror is just a small stem attched to the glass of the windscreen.
Also I forgot to mention that the central locking and the alarm functions all work perfectly when operated by the key in the door.
I have attempted the re programming on several occasions, the led on the key flashes but the doors do not lock. I tried this on a cordoba sx which my dad owns and his works fine.
I have tested the key which seems to be transmitting ok so i feel the problem must be with the control module in the car or the aerial that the control module uses.
The remote does work occasionally about 1 in 20 times.
Any other ideas where the radio control receiver may be.
