24-10-2006, 00:27
Not saying you need to keep the car standard, just that most people on here go for more performanced based modifactions, and more suttle asthetics.

The reason I commented on your spoiler as it has no effect on performance (although maybe on fuel consumption :)).

go to agree with Kendo, :wtf: it you just lowered the car and put the wheels on would of looked better than its looking now  but if its individuality you want, "You Got It" lol

Fair play to you for doing what you like, and making the car your own!

I personally think it would look better without the spoiler, and if the graphics were all the same colour.

Also, please forgive me if I'm wrong here, but are those fake disc brakes behind your rear wheels?

Hey it's my old car.

I bought that car brand new and started modifying it straight away. It's not a patch on what it used to be as it was done as an I.C.E. wagon (which I stripped out prior to selling). I read that someone thinks it's a body kit, well it isn't, back in 2000 there were hardly any after market body parts for the Mk3, so most of that was custom made from bits for other cars, the splitter is for an E30 3series, the skirts were for a mk5 escort (I believe they are now made as a direct fit for the ibiza). That spoiler isn't even mounted up the right way, I split the brackets out of it and put them in the wrong side to mount it that way. The car was all for show and not performance, the fake disks were fitted before one of the shows I did with it because I didn't have the time to strip the drums and re-paint them (they were rusting), I just never removed them. I even put Rage hologram paint on the oxigen1 rims as the paint was new out at the time. Oh and for the record, those wheels were only the second set in the country, the first went on an A3 in the midlands. Those graphics, believe this or not, were actually designed by me and my local tatoo artist, I adapted one of his designs to go on my car. Unfortunately where I had them made put them on their website to show what they could do, then they got copied, over and over again and I am told you can now order them out of the Halfrauds catalogue of stickers. Yes that car is dated now, but at the time (around 5 yrs ago) it was the muts nuts. Everything was up to date "car fashion" of the time, it even had neons and strobes under it all on remote controls.

I was really proud of that car, and still am, I had 16 mag features (mainly due to the I.C.E) and won numerous shows. I was fenatical about it, used to polish it like every other day.

My boot as it was, 2x16" focals ran off the tantrum series amp in the middle, you can just make out the 10" subs hanging off the shelf, they were off another amp hidden under the 16s. All lit up like a cheap disco with internal strobes, wire neons, etc...etc...

Rage hologram paint, not the best of ideas I had, but it still got me attention as it was a brand new type of paint out.

Oh on another note, cut the rear bumper and raise the exhaust, I left the bracket long on the exhause so it could litterally be bent to make it shorter and raise the pipes, I just never got round to it.

Oh and the car originated in Plymouth. Is it still super chipped with a drilled air box and a jetex panel filter? Man there really was nothing available when I was building that, but hey it meant there weren't any other "new shape" ibizas modified at the time, so it did as intended and got the attention. Personally I wouldn't wanna own a car like that now, but it brings back alot of very good memories.

I am now, but i am more a Euro person at heart! had 60mm drop on dished wheels but that was about 1-2 years ago, now i have a standard car and i am in the market for a Cupra, 7..5's on the front, 9's on the rear with S T R E T C H!

I appreciate that it was the 'done' thing 5 years ago, but i really think that its not very tasteful (even then). This of course is my personaly opinion so don't slate me for it! :)

threads like this annoy me.

and not for the reasons that you would think.

everyone on this site is in to modifying their car in some way or another, whether it just be under the hood or with different wheels and bodykits.

all cars come from the factory the same d its up to each persons different taste how they choose to modify it.

personally i dont dig the spoiler butthe owner does... so thats all that matters, yes we are all allowed our own opinions but ever heard of "if you havent got anything nice to say then dont say anything at all"

this lad obviously likes his car the way it is hence it remaining so, and the original owner did it because he liked it.. there is no reason to say its crap just cause its not yoour cuppa...

life is about each to their own... would be a boring and sad place if we all liked the same things.

Ever heard of free speech. Don't post a thread on a public forum and ask for people's opinions when you don't want to hear the negative comments!

This comes up time and time again on many forums i am a member of, if your honest, take the constructive comments (i apologise mine was not constructive WHATsoever, but god, reallu, look at it!)

Sorry for being honest!

I wouldn't do that to my Ibiza, but its a deffo head turner and if its won awards and had magazine features fair play to current and previous owner...

As for those who want to slate, opinions are opinions... but no need to be rude or aggresive...

There is no harm in people stating honest opinions of what is posted, they also shouldn't feel they can't post in a thread, because they risk upsetting the poster.

Positive or negative, the poster chooses to post up the thread for feedback, whether they pay any attention to that feedback is their own choice.

If the poster is happy with their car, then they are happy regardless of what other people think, and should stick to their convictions, and take the opinions with a grain of salt.

Telling people they shouldn't post if they have a negative opinion, is no better than a dictatorship.

On the otherside of the coin, opinions should be opinions, not an excuse to be nasty to others who differ in opinion or taste, state your opinion, but there is no need to knock the person for doing what they do, to their property.

i wasnt saying that they should nto be allowd to nto say nasty things, but obviously at some point someone has put alot of time effort and money in to that car and wether you like it or not there is no point to start throwing out personal insults and sayign the cars shit.

if the owner is happy with it then thats all that matters as at the end of the day they are the one that has to be seen getting out of it.

but honestly... this site is far from allowing freedom of speach. i know of so many incidents where things have been edited and removed where someone has voiced a personal opinion.

LOL, this thread is funny, everyone going off on one thinking their own tastes are right and everything else is wrong. I must admit, I wouldn't wanna be seen driving that car around now, but when I had it I loved it and so did alot of people. Bare in mind 5 years ago when it was still relatively new, you hardly ever saw mk3s at modified car shows, I did it to be different. As for the comment that this sort of thing should be kept for the likes of saxos well that's just daft, people modify to be different and every chav has a paxo so you wouldn't be different. The lexus lights were a new thing on modified cars back then so were relatively cool to have, now they are made for everything so have the stigma of being sh1te. Look at things like 3spoke alloys, and TSW Venoms, cool when they came out but became common and are now thought of as naff. As for the fake disks, I personally can't believe they are still on the car, as I said earlier they went on to cover up rusty brake drums for a show as I didn't have time to strip and paint them fresh, I was just lazy and never took them off.

Oh and all this "a standard cupra looks better" well that may be true in your opinion, but that car isn't a cupra and looks a bit "second car that the wife drives" when standard.

Now with all the stigma of certain mods being cool and certain ones not, that car would probably not be very favourable in the modified world due purely to small minded fools gobbing off even when not asked for an opinion. But 5 years ago it was highly thought of in certain circles as it had, and I'm quoting from Redline here, "the perfect balance of japanese fashion styling without ruining the european shape". This day and age you wouldn't get a comment like that as fashions have changed, but I hardly think the car deserves a slating just because it's not to your tastes, I mean there's no way I'd put neons on a car now, but when I owned that car they were a cool thing to have.

All I'm trying to say is stop slating it in an agressive manner, if you don't like it, then fair enough, but type it's your opinion and not things like "change this, change that!" as though you are giving out orders, because let's face it, who the hell are you to tell someone you don't really know what to do to their car. Offer an opinion yes, hand out orders... no.

Anyway, Rodders, if there's anything you want to know about the car then just ask.

Oh and if you guys want to slate anyone for their car, have a go at me, I drive around in a Jaguar Sovereign these days and I love it. It's probably an old mans car in most of your opinions but I'll tell you now, women absolutely love it!

Yeh i see that... very suprized personlly dont think it would get in a mag theses days, maybe only got in then because like he said mk3`s were new and none were really modified.

Point is it DID get a mag feature, it was there at the right time, right place and it was thought of as different at that time.

I DO prefer subtle, however modifying is a funny old game. What looks like gold to one person looks like a bag of shite to others.

I have had plenty of sh1tty comments about my Ibiza: wheres the body kit? You havn't even tinted the windows, i think those alloys are shite, why put Porsche alloys on a Seat?...

AT THE END OF THE DAY I LOVE THE WAY MY CAR LOOKS AND THATS ALL THAT MATTERS.

Rodders, it's not everyones cup of tea but if you like it, stick with it mate.

Rodders, I have just stumbled upon your car in another magazine. I was going through the POTN.com magazine (volume 4 apparently), and on page 140 in the "radical graphics" section is YOUR car!!!! Or at least it looks 150% like your one. Had a look but couldnt see it on the website tho.
