Hi there Sultan.

I take it from having a Leon 4 you are typing from overseas to the UK?

Theres a few options available to you, that are here in the UK.

APR do a stage 3 conversion for the Mk3 Golf, which i believe should fit a LHD Leon drop em a line @ www.apreurope.com and they may be able to help you further.

Jabbasport are havin much success with the IHI turbo conversion using a roller-bearing turbo, they have a mental mk4 golf running at the mo. speak to them www.jabbasport.comAlso MTM may be of interest, they seem very popular on the continent, unfortunately i dont have any URL's for them.

ABT may be worth a call tooo www.abt-sportsline.de

Hope that helps a bit, bit of an unknown quantity 300bhp in a leon in this country.

BUT! What about a scrappy? Haldex ECU, all the drive bits... must be plenty of 4-motions/TT gone to the big motorway in the sky?

So, now the question is: what 4wd bits are common between golf/tt/leon??? :D

Interesting idea. I spose the biggest issue would be to find out what, if any are the differences between the chasis of the Leon 2WD and the 4WD. Is it simply a case of attaching an axle to the other end of the gear box? I wonder who would know that (and want to tell us)

Wouldn't it be easier & cheaper to do it the otherway round. Import a 4wd then add the R bits to that ?

DaveP

Yes. But it would be LHD.

Good point, 4wd RS Octavia anyone?

BUT IT'S A SKODA!!!!!:D

andy_e

Well if you can't live with the looks/badge, I reckon skoda bits/write offs will be a cheaper source of parts than Audi TT/4 motion.

Very true actually. I wonder who would do this kind of thing for me?????

Any crazy mechanics facny the challange.

BUT IT'S A SKODA!!!!!

Umnn...that's good init?

The other question is - new car big modification....really worth it?

In my mind Skodas have a really bad image (i never new of SEAT until i saw the last model of the Ibiza).

Big car modification, well, this is more of a hypothetical question rather than me really wanting to do a 4WD conversion on it. I was just wondering what how much effort it would really take and whether it is feasible.

Well sort your mind out then (no offence intended!) You don't want to be one of those ignorant people who buy there car based on it's badge.

There are a number of things to consider when thinking about 4WD'ing a Leon......

A) Is the body shell the same in a 2WD & 4WD Leon?
B) Rear axle obviously needs binning and a TT/S3/Octavia 4wd rear axle needs sourcing
C) Rear suspension (4wd has IRS - 2wd is beam rear axle)
D) Prop shaft and gearbox bits (6spd gearbox can do 2wd & 4wd)
E) Exhaust ( is the 4wd Zorst different to accomodate the 4wd gubbins)

If this was feasable I'd be severely tempted to buy the bits and get it done:rolleyes:

DaveP

Always feasible, it is whether the cost makes you

LDoR

It would probably be cheaper to buy a Leon 4 on the continent and simply convert that to a RHD car rather than fit a rear axle and and all.

dor: Lets not get into the whole image debate about Skodas. It's just my opinion (to which i am entitled BTW, whether it's a logical one or not) and i wouldn't buy the octavia anyway as i think it's just ugly (even with out a Skoda badge)

LDOR, no problem m8...sorry I you felt I was having a go!. Hope you can get your 4WD project going!.

Hehe...got sucked into my ex-sprint and road rally days with my Skoda 136 Rapid.....everyone used to get mighty annoyed when i beat em in my 'budget racer'.

Cheers

Well i doubt i'll ever a 4WD project going unless a win a lottery.

Actually Dor i have to appologise for getting so shirty with you. Didn't mean for it to come out like that. If you look in the Shit-you-write section you'll see a thread called i'm nuts which explains that i've been stressing over an essay i had to do for monday which is now done so i'm all happy now.

IMO and IMO only it is possible to do such conversion.

that is ofcourse not the question, the question is how much??
since you guys live in the UK even if you dont find the
crazy mechanic to do it in the UK,the options in Europe are
huge,Dahlback is one option......:D

1.the Haldex is an independent "device".
2.4wd like mentioned needs diffrent suspansion geometry
and mounts.
3.The gearbox is alittle bit diffrent on the 4wd Leon
making finel ratio a little shorter.
4.Exhaust mid section is completly diffrent in shape.

To be really honest if i was in the plot of doing such an
upgrade (2wd to 4wd) i wouldnt go the Haldex direction.
it might be the smoother more mild option which will add
much more play ability to your car+safty+weight,
but IMO it would be wiser to go for a pure 4wd "kit that is more adjustable and easier to retrofit, and might even be cheaper.

bad thing is you will need more power from your engine
good thing is you can go over 250+bhp with no worries of traction.

Well guys, If you get crazy enough I have a Cupra4 and the guys at my local dealership are now personal friends. So if you want any part number (only part numbers) I'll be more than happy to have them look on their ETKA.

I thought that maybe these piccies might help stir up some testoterone in you ! Sadfully it won't do anything to the size of your bank account !!!!

Enjoy !
