View Full Version : Ibiza Mk4 rear speakers - installing larger than 6.5"
I have some 8" speakers for the rear of my car and have the trim off. I drilled out the rivets on one of the OEM speakers and found that there was no way of mounting the 8" on the existing metal bracket that the original speakers are mounted on. So the new plan is to drill out the rivets holding the metal bracket and make up my own.
I see that Pete has taken his brackets off in the big strip down, but no photos that I have seen showing anything replacing them.
Anybody done something like this?

if you give simon34 a nudge via pm, he fitted 6x9 into that space on home made mount plates and it looks and sounds good.
managed to squeze some 6+9 in mine remove the whole mount then made some new ones

There is no replacements that's why mate. I don't sit in the back, so there aren't any speakers in the back ;)
I thought that might be the reason.
I have seen all the before photos Pete, but I don't remember seeing any after ones???

Drilled out the rivets but not had chance to cut the wood yet. Probably over the weekend.
I have some DLS 8" mid range to go in there, got them off ebay for £20.50 including P&P (£10 + £10.50p&p). Some hopefully they will turn out to be a good buy.
Got the brackets on and the crossovers wired up, now just need to wire the amp to the crossovers.
Thanks for the photos they really helped. Mine to follow....
Look forward to seeing the pics mate ;)
