OK, im going to have to get a new pair of 6x9's coz they are falling to pieces, and one of the speakers has decided to pack up completly.

Can someone please give me some pointers to which is the best 6x9 speakers to go for for under £100. Ive been looking at Pionner TSE6995's which i can get for £73, and someone has recommended some Infinity 6953i's which i can get for £80. Or is there any others you would recomend to go on my current setup?
I want something that KICKS ASS LOUD, CRISP STLYE!!!

Current setup is: SONY MD HEADUNIT (4X50W), KENWOOD 17CM COMPONANTS POWERED BY US ACOUSTICS AMP, 6X9 JBL POWERED BY US ACOUSTICS AMP, 12" PIONEER SUB POWERED BY KENWOOD AMP. STEALTH SHELF is kindly being made this week too for the 6x9's.

Thanks.

I have a pair of 6x9 Kenwood 4-ways from Halfords which seem loud, bassy and crisp (4-way helps)
cost £79 if I remember right.

Cummon guys! you KNOW that you can't get that good a speaker for 80 quid!!!!

The best in that price range is the Pioneers though.

Not in Halfords choice range they aint. :)
I was surprised I preferred the Kenwoods to the Infinities on show at Halfords. (yes I know they are'nt the top ICE suppliers, but they are handy)
I had Infinities Kappa series 693's in my audi and they were superb. BUT they cost the earth too.
For £80 you can get a massive improvment in the Ibiza sound from the std head unit... You can also spend twice that... but whether you get "twice" the sound improvment again....?
Depends what you're in to.
I was quite impressed with the Kenwoods I bought, with my terms of reference being Infinities before.
:) :)

(not into ICE, but does like a good sound)

Ive got a set of Pioneers from Halfords, they were £69, and are very good for the price.

I know that there are not 'Excellent' but as Dormouse says, what do you expect for £69.

Just noticed this thread, and have already partially asked a question about his on another thread.. duhuh..

I am interested in some 6x9's os the present ones are tinny as f*ck.

I see that either Pioneer's or Kenwoods are fairly cheap for a decent sound, so might look at those.. have a mate in the industry so he might be able to get me them cheap..

Just wondered, how easy are they to fit..?? (I aint done it ever before). Much wiring to do..?? or simply remove old ones and reconnect new ones..?? Does it involve any cutting of shelves or anything or drilling of holes..?? as I don't want to start hacking up my motor, and would prefer someone in the 'know' to do it if needs be.

Cheers..

If u have a the standard rear speakers in the Ibiza are 6"x4", there are replacents available that are ok, but if u want more oomph for your money then some 6x9 are ur answer.

To fit these, ideally get some MDF (1/2") and cut out squares that u can screw to the bottom of ur parcel shelf.
Cut out the holes for your 6x9 in the MDF and the rear shelf itself.

Fit your 6x9 in the MDF and attach to your rear shelf.

Get some acoustic carpet and fit over the MDF and the rear shelf to give u a stealthy and tidy finish

get 'em fitted by a pro - I'm getting some fiited tomorrow by Unicar in Leeds - only £40 plus vat to fit and £50 for some 6x9 Alpines.

I wouldn't risk messing up your back shelf, unless you've done it before.

I'll let u know how they turn out.
