I have a 97 Beezer and is running on 16" x 7.5 oz's. I have some nice skirts and various other mods which are making the wheels look very small. Can i possibly go any bigger without moddin the wings? I have had to modify the plastic inner wing to fit these on, do i have to any more for 17" ??

Please help!

Minty,

Ive got 17's on my 97 Cupra and they went on no trouble. Cars been lowered too. You may have to cut a small bit of plastic from the inner arches but thats it. Mine are only 7 ( 205/40/17 ) wide though which is something you will have to check out. Speak to either SJB or RPM if you have any worries.

Nice one, didnt think that you could actually get 7 x 17's. My car is lowered aswell by 40 mm, will i still get away with it?

Just out of interest, how much are those tyres

You should be fine mate. May get a bit of rubbing when cornering hard but i think that depends on your make of tyre (curved or square edge ) im sure someone will pick me up if im wrong. As for price, dont know. Havent had to replace em yet but they are a fairly common size so shouldnt be too bad i dont think.:)

Stick to 205-40-17 tyres running 7x17's and your sweet mate. The only prices i know for tyres on 205-40-17 is TOYO T1-S which are appx £75 plus VAT. Thats from Toyo offical dealers too. Not too bad really.

What ET wheels are the 7.5x16 OZ's? and what size tyres are on your rims?
My TSW's don't rub except under severe cornering at Combe and are the same size rim but in ET35 with 205-45 tyres.

Just wondering.

Sorry to stick my nose in.......just passing so I thought I'd answer...

ET was a little "guy" who befriended Elliot and....oh....wait a minute.... ;)

ET is the "wheel offset"......which dictates "how much your wheel sticks out".

ET35 = 35mm offset
ET30 = 30mm offset.

This is the distance from the centreline of the wheel to the face of the hub. The centreline of your wheel is further inboard than the face of your hub, so smaller numbers "stick out more". In the example above, an ET30 will "stick out" 5mm more than an ET35.

An ET30 will stick out by the same amount as an ET35 with a 5mm spacer ring.

Aftermarket wheels are only offered in a few offsets....you need to ensure that you get one to suit your specific car.

(This is a pain for scooby owners ~ std offset is ET52.5, whereas most aftermarked wheels are ET35....which stick out by and extra 17.5mm and can rub agaisnt the arches.....even with the same width of wheel and tyre).

Better than school this site is, well i have absolutely no idea, the wings have had to be slightly modified to it the wheels i have on now. so i presume the ET must be 30? The certainly sit out further than the pevious set i had on !

Is there anyway to check just by looking or is it a case of looking on the OZ's website (polaris is anyones voluntering!)

Ian

If u take one of the wheels off the ET is stamped on the inside, or in the cap that covers yor nuts (ooer)

I would check the rim width whilst the wheel is off. 7.5J or 7J (J=inch) and the ET number also as already said.
195's on a 7.5 inch rim must look pretty stretched to fit. My 205's look like the minimum width tyres for the 7.5's.
Are they really 7.5J width? Unusual - I have'nt seen many 7.5J rims around..
always good to know, if you could confirm this etc..
many thanks
Bill

i could be wrong then ?!?, the wheel sits further out cus the ET is larger than the ones previous, i presumed it must be a wider wheel, now i know different!
