I'm kinda new here and only got my car in July. Slapped some alloys and and tinted my windows. Its now time to mod some more and next on my shopping list is Suspension and lowering it. But I am also lookin at upgrading the brakes and puttin an exhaust on in the coming months.

Suspension - Had a look round and dont seem like much about, seen bilstein sprintline kit with lowering springs which will drop it 40mm. R these a good buy and is there anyone else that do kits 4 the ibiza mk 2?

Brakes - My brakes look piddly behind my 16" EvoR's is there somwhere that do some big brakes for the 1.4 and does puttin brakes for a 1.8 or a 2l engine onto a 1.4 make n e difference. I am pretty much car illeterate so lay it down thick for me :D

Exhaust - What system to get on, n e recommendations? Plus same question of puttin on for a more powerful Ibiza on. What diff does it make, is it diff fittings or such like.

Do b in mind when replyin that I got much of an idea about cars just into moddin it to the extreme

1 more q while I am here, do u have Cupranet stickers 4 the car? If you see a ibiza red round mans/nots say hello :D

Chris :)

Hi

Bilstein are the only people (to the best of my knowledge) that do a full kit for the 93-96 Ibiza. It's hard, but not to the extreme & is a million miles better than the lowering springs that I have one mine (going soon)

With your brakes, you will need to get the hubs from a larger engined car (any Ibiza apart from the 1.9SDi) to you can fit the Girling Calliper. Then you will probably need to swap driveshaft ends. This will cost some money all in. - Perhaps a Pad & Disc upgrade might be worthwhile - also consider changing the brake fluid to dot 5.1 - it isn't water based so is less suseptable to brake fade.

Remus to a bolt on exhaust in the right diameter for your car, single exit 3" round Imola from memory, though any Exhaust will fit with an appropriate adaptor to reduce the pipe down.

Cheers

Mark

I can vouch for the quality of the bilstein sprintline kit, stiff ride but not too harsh, ya really get a good impression of how good/bad the road is

bigger brakes is as how Mark describes, execpt the outer CV drive shaft ends wont need changing, but it is a dead involved conversion and wont be cheap and a fast road pad/disc combo from pagid (greenstuff only good help keep the alloys clean) is yer best route

Any exhuast meant for the gti/cupras will almost certainly fit tho and adapter will be required to bridge the differences in pipe diameter, im running a Magnex stainless steel 6x4 oval back box which was a bitch to fit

You can do the 239x20mm vented disk conversion without changing hubs.

On some cars they have the 239x10mm disks, and you need to change the callipers to use the vented disks, but some have the 239x12mm disks, so allready have the right callipers, you just need to get the vented disks & matching pads.

More braking power on a 65bhp 1.4?

it's got enough problems lugging a set or 16" wheels round without slowing it down any more!

I threw away the whole interior of mine so it only weighed 830kg, went a lot better and didn't need any bigger brakes!

Suggestion - when you've only got 65bhp you want to concentrate on taking bits off, not adding stuff!

(mind you i've now got 355mm 6 pot AP fronts and 320mm rears under 18's!)(but power has gone from 65bhp to 465bhp!)

I OWN A IBIZA S ON A 99'T AND IT WAS PRETTY SLOW SO I FOUND A 1.6 FROM A POLO (6N) AND THEN PUT A SCHRIK CAM, CUSTOM K&N FILTER, 4 BRANCH MANIFOLD AND PORTED AND POLLISHED HEAD, I NOW RUN NEAR TO 100BHP. AND ALL THIS CAME TO AROUND £600(AS I AM IN THE TRADE)

I HAVE A CUSTOM EXHAUST BUT THERE IS AN ASLEY TWIN 3" ROUND FOR AROUND £125.

STEER CLEAR OR MODING THE BRAKES, DRILLED AND GROOVED WILL LOOK BETTER.

Didn't the 1.6 have 100bhp?

you have to sort the brakes out with more power though? the 239mm's struggle with the weight of the car as it is - let alone making it faster.

SORRY, IT RUNS AROUND 130BHP (MIS TYPED) ALSO THE MK2 GOLF GTI HAD THE SAME BRAKES AS MINE AND STOPS FINE. IF YOU HAVE BIG POWER LIKE THE 16V.

THE IBIZA HAS A BIGGER SERVO WHICH COMPENATES FOR THE WIEGHT.

having had my ibiza for almost 3 years I can tell you it's under braked big time - even with Pagid Fast Road Pads & Discs & Got 5.1 Fluid I still get brake fade.

Seems funny that I don't get that in cars with the same driving style though.

bigger servo or not, 239's get hot too quick for a car that weight.

I'm gettin round to added more power, just takes lots of time and money :( Ice tends to weigh it down also. I am doin everything else before I go crazy on power. Insuring me on a more powerful car aint gona be cheap at my age. So doin everythin else for when I get a few more no claims and more years to my age.

So from 65bhp to 456bhp and 18's  New car?

Thanks for all yoru replies, takes me a while to check bk
:(

Chris :)
