where can i connect the reomte cable from amp to on the orriginal head unit ( centre console) on my mk3 ibiza 20vt?

I wouldnt of thought the standard head unit would have a remote out! Someone please correct me if I am wrong, so instead you need to connect it to a power supply such as the cigerette lighter or similar, only problem is you will need an inline switch to turn it off so it wont be on all the time!

Another thought actually connect it to the ignition power cable on the back of the HU, this will ensure the amp goes off with the ignition! :D

grab a multi meter, test it against the cables, see what is live when ign is on and not live with ign off... then you have your remote signal :)

There is a black cable in the lower plug on the rear of the standard unit iirc. Splice into that, jobs a goodun.

yeah small black cable on the black iso connector going into the back of the unit, i spliced this, works fine.

bad idea.. if you forget to turn it off one night.. you will come out to a flat battery the next morning

i got the remote from the back of the hu just tapped into either a blue or black wire cant remember what one now though, anyway the amp is knackard its getting power but then as soon as i earth it the power kinda goes to nearley nothing, it was an old amp been laying around house for ages so i think ill go and invest in one, cheers for help guys.

I had that on my old escort and it was because it wasnt a good enough earth. Voltage dropped to about 4.7 volts. Screwed it straight into the bodywork under the back seats and got 14.4 volts.
