View Full Version : Missing my mudflaps - is there a solution?

Hi guys.

Probably a silly one, but one of the things I miss about my Leon Cupra is the mud flaps.

I wanted them on the R but I was told they are not available due to the lower height of the car.

The sides of the car get a lot dirtier and much quicker than they did on the last one with the flaps.

Does anyone know of a solution? Is there anywhere that sells smaller mudflaps that would fit/not look silly/ and not drag on the ground? Or is there any way to modify the std. Leon ones?

Cheers,

Scott

as you're told that the car is lower you could

a) cut the bottoms off
b) don't bother, just fit them & see
c) stop moaning & wash the car?

:D

Cheers Mark ;)

a) cut the bottoms off

I could but I know I would make a pig's ear of it. :hammer:

b) don't bother, just fit them & see

They'll probably snap off (they occasionally caught speed bumps on the Cupra) but what the hell! :D

c) stop moaning & wash the car?

I spent 4 hours washing/prepping and swissol waxing last weekend. that's why I want the flaps - to keep it cleaner for longer! ;)

Lower?
Really?

The R's looked jacked up as ever to me.. to clear the huge 18"'s.
I would try one on for size and judge for myself.

The Leon mudflaps do not fit round the sideskirts, they are moulded for the normal sills. :(

Poo.

Is there any other way to get mudflaps on the car?

Bill, the literature says the car has a lower ride height than the std. Cupra. :) (I haven't measured it though ;) )

Cheers,

Scott

Great minds think alike :D

I'm about to make up my own ones, custom made from plain truck ones.

Fixing to be modified to suit and maybe a little R logo on the corner where the Seat lgo would normally be.

I'll let you know how it goes, and maybe some pics too.

Cheers Flapper. :)

I haven't looked yet but will there be holes to fix the flaps on to the car or do you think some sort of drilling might be required?

bought some from demon tweeks that are not that visible on my ibiza, just plain black rubber squares basically, can be cut to shpae with a good sharp stanley knife and pliable enough to shape round skirts etc, though might upset the smooth lines on the cupra R,but the black ones are very unnoticeable i feel, have a look on mine in the gallery,i've left them squre but as i say can be rounded off with a bit of trimming:cheers:
