Hi folks

I've got a Ibiza 20VT and am aware that its a total disaster when it comes to adding your own ICE. Just now I've had a custom made parcel shelf kitted out with a set of Kenwood HQ 7x10's. Doesn't sound too shabby but I still want to fit my amp and subs. Has any of you got sounds in your Ibiza's. The only way I can see getting round it is running the amp throught the rear speakers and connecting the remote wire through ignition. Is this how you got round it. Any advice will be appreciated.

Cheers for that. I'll give it a go. Just a shame that its not possible to fit another head unit. Would make it a hell of a lot easier.

ALPINE do a head only unit that fits too the bottom of the dash if it helps , and there is a spanish company offering a dash facia to convert to STD DIN units , though i cant seem to get through to em :(:(:(:(

Well, im here nursing sore fingers.

Ive bought some Kenny Dual Mags (6.5")

You need to remove the door trim (get the door trim tool from halfords) be careful, less haste more speed etc.
3 CLips on the bottom, 2 on the left, and 3 on the right.
and dont forget to remove the 2 screws.

When this is off u will laugh, swear and cry at the cr*p in front of u.

Disconnect the wiring to the mid and undo the 3 screws, take off the basket/bucket with the speaker in and marvel at its crapness.

Now u need something to mount the new speakers in.
I drew round the old basket onto some mdf and cut out a crude bracket which i can screw into the 3 pre tapped holes that held the basket originally.

And thats as far as i got, allow yourself a full day for the whole job as you will be sanding/filing and fiddlin all day to get em in.

Im finishing them this week, but im also goin to run some RCA convertors and suppressors to try (?) and run an amp for my new speakers and a sub.

Will let u know, i'll try and get some pics to help aswell.

Flapper, are th tweeters in the Ibiza moulded into that plastic on the back of the door mirror, cos i cant seem to shift em.

Wish me luck all

Good Luck mate. That sounds like you'll have your work cut out. I've got a set of Dual Mags that I took out my Pug when I traded it in and haven't even looked behind the grilles of my Ibiza to see if they'll fit.

Thanks for the info about the Alpine head unit Flapper. That might be worth finding out about. Do you know how it gets wired up?

as far as i could see , it was a seperate base unit hidden under the dash wired independently with a small BUS lead to the back of just a face , not much bigger than a standard pop off face . as for fitting , could be a bit of a sparky job , not too bd to be honest , just standard stuff , in non standard holes , not cheap ill bet though

Might be worth trying to get in contact with kpsport?
They also sell white dial kits for new and the older style SEATs. Only in KPH tho.

For all those interested.

I have managed to change the front speakers on the NewShape
Ibiza.

With a lot of help From Zboyd and his wire toothed bro in law tricky.

As long as you buy an interior removal tool and follow the guides, you cant go far wrong.

I would strongly reccomend the speaker adaptors that flapper has posted about in anopther topic.

If you try to fit the apeakers without these, beware of clearance as the window comes straight down behind the mounting position.

I opted for Kenny Dual Mags (KFC-PSR70P) which fitted straight into the adaptors no probs.
The tweeters were mounted next to the grille on the back of the door mirrors.

Sound is wel improved, altho the std head unit, distorts the signal over 30.

Will be improved soon when my amps and sub arrive.

Once again thanks to Zboyd and tricky.

Pics to follow soon.
