View Full Version : KVW100 window closure unit.

I bought myself a KVW100 unit last week for full window closure on my car, and i got my hands on it this weekend and gave it a go.
This couldn't be easier to use and the 3 simple steps are as follows:
1) Turn on ignition
2) plug in KVW100 to OBD port and you hear a "Beep". Leave it alone.
3) After 2 mins you hear 3 short "Beeps". Remove the KVW
That is all there is to it. My Leon mk1 now has full closure windows simply by locking the car. Don't have to hold the button or press it in any sequence, just lock it as normal.
This is a very good little device and cheaper than some other options, so if your after one you can get one here:
http://www.vagproducts.co.uk/pages/paypalcart/kvw1003.php
These only work on one car (have tried another car today) but i have no ideas if plugging it in more than once will remove the closure or not. I'm not going to try it.
Gets a big thumbs up from me

Cheers Dave :)
I don't think it can be removed at all from the ECU memory or be used on another car. The only thing you can keep it for is to recode the key incase it loses the memory after a battery change etc...
You just press it once for the windows to close fully?, what about the other options in sequence like twice lock for the windows to stay as they are (although this would mean on the LCR the deadlocks and alarm would not be activated).
How about rolling them down when unlocking? This possible?
I will be buying one this week though regardless. The price and full closure feature alone is worth it :)

The instructions say it can wind the windows down by holding the unlock button, but it doesn't work with mine. In all honesty i don't want that anyway as i'd only ever want to ensure my windows were up and car was locked. Mine is a TD! Fr not a LCR so it may work.
For £26 you can't grumble

Same here, windows up is all I really want also. I couldn't be bothered finding the correct vag com cable and software. This aint a bad price for what it does. I've paid £40+ ontop of an alarm install for full closure.

From what i can gather, this can't be done by vagcom anyway (unless you use "proper diagnostic equipment").

Good man.
I took mine apart earlier to see what was in it (after i'd used it of course) hoping to find a battery or something that i might be able to remove in order to reset it and run it on another car, but no such luck. Just a tiny circuit board with 4 wires and a tiny speaker! Not alot for your money, but it does something that a more expensive vagcom can't so it's worth every penny.

Dunno but you could email them and ask. I'm sure other owners would be interested as they seem to work with many VAG group cars from 2000 on.

Do all of the advertised features work on the LCR? So remote windows down as well as automatic windows up?
hmm,, I might just get myself one of them...
After it has been installed. Is it possible to lock the car with the windows open a little? (just curious)

Just been out to the car. I don't think it is.
If you press lock once then u get all windows up and obviously the car will deadlock and alarm as normal.
If you press the lock twice then the windows are supposed to stay as they are and on the LCR it would be doors locked but (no deadlock and alarm activated).
However the windows roll up and the door will be as above.
If you press unlock twice and hold it down, apart from the mad indicator dance then they do roll down but at varying rates.
TBH I think for the LCR it's worth it just for the full closure. I'm forgetful in the summer :)
hope you guys are right, just ordered one :)
what a cool bit of kit! sorted it the other day
i can control opening and closing from the key fob

These are the questions you ask BEFORE you buy :p
I don't think you can m8, it adds to your ECU code and is a part of it.
I suppose if you you reflash the ECU back to a stock program it might but I doubt anyone would do it. I mean it's a good thing not something I can see you want removing or get bored of :)

Why would you get bored of it? Its not a CD or something that you use ALL the time. If you leave your window open by mistake or deliberatly, they will close when you lock the car. This is a very good security for the forgetfull people.
interesting, it doesn't do the folding mirrors does it ?

Nope, if you want that then you will need one of these.

about £70 and have to do some wiring.
thanks for the info.... now is it worth £70 or can i live with switching the mirrors to fold up...... Decisions decisions lol
I have this installed on my car now and it works a treat..
I just want to know if its possible to lock the car with the windows still open.. I sometimes do this when the car is in my garage.
if you already have a serial kkl vag-com cable you can do this for free with changing 3 values in your convenience module...looky...looky

silly question from a newbie , just ordered mine but were abouts do you plug it in , leon my01 ..
it was in the rear ashtray on my a4 but check there and its not on the leon
sorry for asking stupid question
Mine arrived today, very easy to install, and works a treat.
I thought the Leon OBD port on all models was under the front ashtray, directly under the radio !
yeh should be, behind the wee plastic cover

No you keep the unit to resync the key. You can reprogram another key if needed but not remove the ECU program or use the unit again to update the ECU on another car.
Does anyone know if this affects the open/close feature using the key in the lock? Just in case the remote open feature doesn't work on mine, I'd like to still be able to use that!

I've just recieved one of these through the post and i don't know where my OBD-II interface is. Anyone got a pic of where it is on an 05 plate LCR? Would be appreciated, i hope it's not behind the ashtray as i've taken the ashtray out before to try and fit my ipod in it but couldn't get it back in and ended up breaking it! Dealer replaced under warranty though.

For people having trouble with the auto down. It does work but needs a bit of a knack.
Unlock the car fully by pressing the unlock button twice, then after the second unlock quickly press the unlock for a third time but keep the button held down. After about a second they should all come down. Release the button at anytime to halt the progress of the windows.

Tried it mate but wont work. I think it maybe to do with me only having the front electric windows and manual rear windows although I did remember Daveonthemove mentioning that he also had this problem with his LCR
I've got the selective unlocking enabled on mine as well. Gonna use me vag-com to disable it so that all doors unlock at the same time. See if that works.
Still happy with the auto up feature. Confused a few people with it. Especially the managing director at SEAT (Something along the lines of "I didn't think that feature was on that particular model")

Mine doesn't work either as Rookwise mentions. I haven't tried the 3 button method quoted above, so will give that a go, but my FR TDI (not LCR:p) is all electric windows, so i'm surprised it hasn't worked.

To be honest, i only bought it for the window closure. Not bothered that it doesn't open them as that makes it less secure if i do it without realising.
If i had a use for it then i would probably send it back.

been a long time since the last message, i guess you guys got the right timing in buying these, i cant find them anywhere now! the only place that seems to have them is awsome, and thats at a price of just under £50 and for some reason, the guy on the phone said it would only fit a mk4 golf, not a 1.6 2004 leon... as i believe my leon is an exact copy of the golf internally, these guys should know what they are talking about, or im missing something.... also found a chinese version on ebay for £35 but the kvw100 website says that the chinese version is only for cars in china...dunno what the difference is, but dont want to risk it... ? any ideas where to get it for a decent price?
