View Full Version : Pipercross PX600 Airbox
Need to quieten the pickle a bit for trackdays so have been sorting out an airbox - only one off the shelf which will fit is 600 from pipercross. Emailed them before buying to ask what testing they had done re. power figs etc. No reply. Saw one at Autosport Inters on their stand and asked the chap who said they had fitted 2 of them to porsches running nearly 500hp, so in theory 250hp apiece so this would be ok. Ordered one with biggest intake 100mm. When arrived, looking at it and although intake is 100mm, its resticted to 85mm as it goes through a cone foam filter that sits inside the airbox intake....and the filter looks WAY too small to handle 250hp to me. So yesterday I rings them up....technical dept please......chap comes on line, I asks him about what power testing they had done......tells me they had tested it on a 160hp caterfield but thats about as far as they had gone in power tests......me tells him I need 240hp......oh he says.......nothing more to add.
I hate tuning firms so much it hurts.
So I am going to use the box without integral filter and last night ordered a separate external filter.....GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.......Jetex Big MOFO good for 350hp they say

Hi Rob
I have to call the sales manager later so if I remember as my memory is going I will ask the question for you
Do you know the part number?
Sarah
all part no's are in the link if you scroll down - mine has 100mm intake
good luck, thanks for help, hope the salesman if more help than the 'technical' dept
and now Jetex tell me 2 weeks to get the filter.......
well box now fitted with some mods and has quietened it down no end (still sounds hard as nails but hopefullt wont upset sound marshalls any more)
ended up fitting an external Jetex filter good for 350hp, junking the crappy internal one from pipercross, and also covering the box with heat reflective sound deadening. Filter now sits right behind grill so should get cold air feed and from a high pressure zone
Cheers to Saul for various bits of stainless
