I've got it but it was free for me with 9 years no claims.

Waste of time in my opinion ,if you've got enought years to get it then you will only be saving yourself a few % discount as your first claim will probably only reduce your no claims by 2 years.

Your policy after a claim will still rocket irrespective of your ncd.

Actually, I've never checked it before, I'm actually slightly wrong

Tesco insurance if you don't protect:

5 years+ ncd, no accidents, not protected no claims: £289.80

After accident assuming 2 years knocked off

3 years ncd, one own fault accident : £437.85

increase £148

Tesco insurance if you do protect:

5 years+ ncd, no accidents, protected no claims: £334.95

After acident assuming still full no claims

5 years+ ncd, one own fault accident, protected no claims : £365.40

Cost £45 (334 - 289) + £31 (365 - 334) = £76

Hee hee... just for fun. If I got a 6 month ban for speeding on the motorway it would only cost me £50 in extra premiums! Result.

I'm with DL, but I don't think it was that much.... but then the base policy is only £160, so they couldn't get away with 50% on top for that
