Just quick one - been looking around the forum for the the best option in terms of intercooler - consensus seems to be the Forge FMIC.... ..... just wondering if it wold be the correct choice if going GTRS.... won't it struggle with charge temps at the 330bhp level?
Is so, what would be the best alternate option?
And could anyone point me in the right direction for spray kits? Are there actually any good ones?
Thanks very much. :)
Raf
apparently it's just over... but we'll see v soon
I'm looking at fitting an LCR FMIC to my LC for that reason (with switched inlet manifold).
Slightly off topic - do the gtrs kits really give you 330bhp???
Am i still in the dark ages, or is 300 about the limit you'd get from a FWD car, such as a leon?
I know it MUST be the usable limit - otherwise you'd need some good methods of getting power down.
wilko's IHI golf was smoother to drive than a k03s leon. just awesomely fast when you put your toe down

GTRS has made 330 with correct peripherals and mapping... just a tad laggier than IHI. With regard to what can go through the wheels.... well, I struggle with 250lb'ft let alone any more - Reasonable acceptable torque for front wheel is probably no more than that, maybe less...(imo) ... unless you start running slicks and 800lb springs with a 4 inch drop on your rear end....... :hide: (says the man who's planning to go GTRS..... ;)

Anyome point me in the right direction where I can get a spray kit? I thought I read somewhere that someone is running one....
Cheers

RobDon was running one spraying NOS on his IC.
I think his could have been NX, but something likethis (http://www.toys4cars.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=13674¤cy=GBP)

When I was looking into a FMIC, with ideas of a future BT conversion, I was told by Awesome AND Forge that their FMIC was good for circa 500bhp.

Hmmm.... slightly more than I was expecting.... maybe rather than going Forge fmic and spray, I should put the extra pennies towards one of there.... http://www.vag-tuner.com/acatalog/Intercooler.html ... ?

see this recent post from Forge. (http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showpost.php?p=1223267&postcount=32)

Hence why i went Pace FMIC as their intercooler is half the height of the forge one, i know of someone running 400bhp on a Pace FMIC in a MK4 golf and he has had no problems, just another alternative

It appears I have been misled. Hmmm...

That kinda settles it then....
Has anyone fitted the regal's FMIC to a LC?

It's an American one that's highly rated on Vortex.

I still may go Forge though - for ease of fitting/compatability etc... and consider a spray kit or aquamist...... decisions.. decisions.....

i got a eurojet now. lovery peice of kit and has improved spool, much more power all round and allot quicker.
IMO std IC piping is messy and restrictive, as this proved to me in my case.
though im not sure if they can fit the leon? though i would imagin it is the same bay so it may be fine. also costed around 500 posted from america.
I'm running circa 450bhp with a Forge Octavia FMIC and the inlet manifold is always cold to the touch.

Is that a dual pass, Eddy?
cool, my main reason for this core was to avoid std piping which is the reason i went for it, my std piping was messy as i had to chop it up a bit. the new piping is much more free flowing and has been a great improvement to me
Yeah, it is... very similar to the leon one
What (if any) std pipe work are you retaining? did you keep the pancake pipe in the wheel arch?
No pan cake is gone! i have no stock piping what so ever! all new that came with the kit, goes from the compressor, down by the battery, loops round to the core inlet, then out the core loops to the std forge TB hose
so much more get up and go now, and this didnt happen when i went from std turbo and hoses to the BF and forge hoses.
in my case the piping has given a great gain in the way the car breaths as well as great cooling
also spools faster

Yes, as Mork says it's basically the same as the Leon kit just has different mounting points AFAIK.
I still have the standard pancake pipe, one other standard pipe which was originally retained was the sleeved one which I think connects to the pancake pipe (it's in that general area anyway). However after popping 2 out of the sleeve it had to be replaced with a custom fabricated one.
