View Full Version : Different colours from Europe?
I'm in the process of ordering a Leon 20VT from Europe via VirginCars.com. The weird thing is that it appears they offer more/different colours than are available in the UK ...
According to the UK website the colour choices (I'm considering metallic only) are:
* Arctic Grey
* Imperial Blue
* Black Magic
Now the Virgin guys are offering as above:
* Arctic Grey
* Imperial Blue
and the following others (again considering metallic only):
* Aegean Blue
* Azalea Red
they also offer Pearl effect Space Black. Can anyone help me out with a picture of the Red and Aegean Blue? I did quick search but could only find a pegeot 306 in the Aegen Blue....so not much good :cool:

Why?
Do a search on the web and find out what people have to say about Virgin Cars...
Are you _really_ sure you want to use them?
Steve
Second the comments about virgin ~ not got "good press" by forum users (see import forum).
Colour choices are shown on www.seat.nl
An importer should be able to get you anything shown on this site.....One of the guys on here went for techno-grey metallic....probably the only one in the country.
I'd question Virgin over the Pearl Effect Black. This has been a topic of much discussion on here......see previous colour threads in this forum. General concencus is that:-
Pearl Effect Space Black ~ "original" Leon black - no longer available.
Ebony (non met) black ~ just discontinued (only on offer for 2-3 months)
Black Magic Met ~ the only black now on offer....no-one has seen it on a car yet 'cos it has just replaced Ebony (but VW have been using it on the Golf for yonks).

My VirginCars sourced Leon was ordered as Pearl Deep Space Black. I got a black one, but by the time it arrived Seat UK brochures were showing black as "Black Magic" (IIRC). Not sure which colour I actually have. (Do Black Magic and Deep Space Black actually have the same paint codes? Daz?).
Steve
I believe:-
"Black Magic" = C9Z
"Ebony Black"(non metallic) = 041
"Space Black" pearl = not entirely sure.....Z4Z4 ?

My car has now arrived in the UK - it was purchased simply as 'Metallic Black' - how do I work out what colour I have?
Don't have my documentation with me today, but I'm sure my paint code was marked on my Final Invoice from the dealer in Holland.
I think it is also shown on your COC.
I only got my car 2 weeks ago, so it's possible yours was built at the same time.....which would make it an "Ebony Black" like wot mine iz.
As far as I know.....the switch from Pearl to Ebony black took effect on 2002 spec cars. Ebony black was only available if you ordered before August (I think)....thereafter only metallic black is offered.
You can tell whether your car is MY02 by the chassis number.
The last 8 characters are "1R" followed by 6 numbers for a MY01 car (pearl), "2R" followed by 6 numbers for a MY02 car (probably "ebony"....but might be metallic).
I'm getting another Leon 20VT in Indigo blue metallic - factory order of course.
I wouldn't bother with Virgin - heard a load of bad reports on them.
Go direct to Wim (Seat dealer in Groningen, Holland) and ask him for a quote - email wim@pruys.nl
He won't piss you about like Virgin do :p
Well guys - thanks for the advice. After making the above post I checked the "seat-imports" forum and read all about Virgin Cars. I also found an interesting newsgroup (uk.rec.cars.import) with again quite a few comments regarding Virgin Cars.
So......
I have phoned Virgin and am in the process of canceling order - and have been assured that my deposit will be re-imbursed (oooerrrr missus - here's hoping).
The other useful link I have found is the following:
http://www.truro.swinternet.co.uk/Insurance.htm
Encouraged by what I've read on these forums, I am now seriously considering doing it all myself :D
The link above had some useful information about insurance law changes and the homepage also had some useful advice. I guess most people here are aware of it, but newbie's will find it useful.
Well - I'll keep ya all posted with progress - I intend to get in touch with a few dealers over in Holland and do some shopping around ;)
I have the 'azelia red' colour on my cupra. Mine is a uk car just gone 6mths, but since then i beleive the colour is not available.
I am very pleased with it (the colour) - i wasn't to sure in the beginning (in bright sunshine it is a really light salmon colour)
Read the topic on 22/10/01 'Azelia Red - Am i the only one'
Unfortunatley i have no phto's of the car as of yet

Hrm... my 'metallic black' car appears to be just plain old Ebony Black - gits. Having not seen a matte black version, does it look anywhere near as good as Black Magic or that pearly one?
Fastshow,
Don't be dissapointed ~ my car is ebony and it looks spanky. I guess I would say that though.... :D
I've sent lee some j-pegs, but he's not updating the gallery for a couple of weeks ~ can forward a couple to your email if you wish.....in fact I'll do that just now. Check yer mail!
Parked it beside my mates golf 18.T the other day (which is metallic black-magic).....my car was much "blacker" than his. I guess his was more "sparkly", but mine showed a "deeper" mirror effect. Looks great when waxed.
Downside is that it will show chips worse than a metallic (no clearcoat laquer to protect paint surface).....
I reckon you are owed £150-£200 if you paid for metallic....
and this.
Had to trim them down to place on BBS ~ can email you some more full-size if ye like (?)

Cheers mate, looks sweet. :) TBH, I guess black is black, so should be OK. Oh, and nice house. ;)
I reckon you are owed £150-£200 if you paid for metallic....
Which is a bonus. I'll be interested to see what 'discount' I get offered.

Hrm... Still, being solid black, I guess it'll be easier and cheaper to touch up too.
Nice House? Yeah....nice big garage too for my RS4 and the 993RS......honsest :rolleyes:
Non-metallic should be easier to repair ~ agreed. And it's a "limited edition" too ~ only available for a couple of months :D
Let us know how you get on with a rebate. :cheers:
Hey Mik, nice motor.. Like the alloys, could you give me details as to what size/make etc.
Ta,
Yorkie.
Yorkie ~ thanks. They are 7x16 Adikt Buz (ET35) with some sneaky "seat" centres for the stealthy seat-option look (which cost an additional £6). Tyres 205/55 as per Cupra.
Was originally trying to get some 2nd hand standard 20VT multispokes ~ glad I couldn't find any now. :)
Adikt are imported by Yokohama ~ but they are no longer bringing in 16" due to lack of UK demand. I called them late last week and they still had 8 of this style and size in stock.....get them quick if you are interested!
www.adikt.co.uk for the phone number. Very cheap. Declared to insurance as "lower value than OEM items ~ no increase to insurer liability" and it didn't affect my premium.....which was nice!
(Phone no for Yokohama/TSW/Adikt = 01908 625625)
Cheer Mik, looks like you were lucky not to find the Cupra multi-spoke, I think they're awful!
I'm going to be ordering a Leon Cupra sometime in the new year (Dutch import) and am looking round for something to replace the standard cupra alloys so hence interest in yours.

Hey Yorkie,
Have you seen the European V6 17" Cupra alloys?
They are well nice.
I wasn't keen on the std uk cupra multispokes so have ordered my car with these 17" mothers!
I think it was about £750 to upgrade but the dealer in Holland reckons most of that is just for the tyres!!!
Lee,
Have you got any piccies or www links to the wheels ?
Are they anything like the Cupra 4 alloys as follows :-

Hi Marc,
How's it going chief?
Youve been quiet lately! Is it coz you is getting a civic - type R
Sorry, maybe I shouldn't have mentioned that in here!:D
It's going alright m8 - it's me birthday tomorrow! 21 again ;)
For my birthday I would like....... a couple of young nymphs and a Civic Type R please.....
The CTR is completely up in the air to be honest - I've heard Honda have had big production delay probs and I can't find a foreign dealer who will supply a cheap import, so I'll have to wait and see.
The new Leon will be ready at the beginning of December hopefully - I fancy some 17s like yours but dunno if I can justify the expense
Take care matey!
