View Full Version : 97+ spec bumpers
Someone posted about this recently, can't remember who, but a '97 spec cordoba front bumper will happily fit onto an earlier 93+ model Ibiza, just done it with my girlfriends car and very nice it looks too.
The only fudging you have to do is too remove the complete lower front panel (that the splitter is attached to, and bend two of the original screw brackets at the front back, and out of the way.
I take it is the same, or easier with a 97 spec 'biza bumper.
pretty much the same scotty i've got an f2 front which is bolted to the older wings through the sides but the rear bumper fits like a glove and no cutting is required for back box either just a different exhaust hanger;)

I`m looking for some bumpers to fit onto my 95 ibiza gti.
Is the 97 spec cordoba bumper different to the ibiza 97 spec bumper? If so what are the differences?
When you fitted it to your girlfriends car did any of the connections fit or where the two fixings under the grill the only points which matched?
Any comments or advice on doing so would be appreciated.
The cordoba bumper is slightly different looks wise, due to the front splitter, which is a different design to the ibiza one i've noticed. The even later spec cordoba bumpers r reg on(?) have yet another type of splitter and the mouldings have been smoothed out on both front and rear bumpers. (my parents have a later spec one.)
The grill clips lined up, but a couple of the brackets needed new holes drilling to enable it to be screwed on, the side screwholes (where the archliners attach) are left exposed, so you may want to find some later spec liners at some point. It doesen't look bad, just not 100%.
The bumper will sit happily on two screws at the front and the side slide clips, it will flex if you physically pull it, but nothing to worry about.
Mail me , thep@another.com if you want any more info.
