This weekend im going to a RR day, after that im going to take off the door cards and put some layers of soundproofing in, how much do i need to use (ie do i only put small squares behind each speaker or do i cover as much of the door as possible?)
also, i read that there is a cheaper alternative to dynamat and brown bread sold in homebase, if so, whats it called?:)
put in as much as you need m8
bear it mind it can add weight though :(
DyNamat is the best - and from experience if well covered you only need one layer of the good stuff
Tip : more covered = less rattling ;)

Marley flashing tape from B&Q, Homebase, or similar. Slightly thinner than dynamat/brown bread. But £10 for a 10m roll compared to £25 for a m² you'll save a mint, believe me it works a treat as well!;)

kev, silly question, but what dimensions does it come in? is it like duct tape form , or is it more like wallpaper roll styliee?
Can come unstuck (I have heard) in the summer.
From the fitting guides i've seen, it's best to do the whole surface of the panel and use only one layer.
I would look at your door panels as well. If I ever get round to doing mine then I will stick some around the speaker opening which vibrates a bit.
The marley flashing tape comes in 10m rolls that 100mm or 150mm wide
the marely tape is the stuff to use. easy to work with. comes in different sizes. all you'll need is a stanley knife. ive put 2 layers on my front doors, and 3 layers in the boot area. made a good difference.
One of the best things you can do to improve the the midbass response is to completely cover the bit of metal just behind the door card in something like Dynamat. Its usually worse than a piece of Swiss cheese to allow easy access to all the bits inside the door. By sealing this off and putting a little bit on the inside of the outer door skin you are creating a much better box for the midbass driver to work in.
Cheers Darryl
Dynamat have door kits, the come with 12sq ft. It's should be enough for 2 doors. I'm planning to do the same thing, but am alsoo looking for the liquid stuff to do the outer door skin.

Actually you don't have to put Dynamat the whole door. A nice job can be done by covering almost 3/4 of the main surface of the door. You could use Dynamat Extreme if you have very loud speakers and woofers instead of using two or three layers of normal Dynamat. And be sure to cover the hole that the speaker fits in. This is how I did my doors on my Ibiza and they didn't rattled at all and my ICE install was capable of 155db's.:D
I'm personally looking to lower the road noise. I don't listen to music at eardrum blowing levels.
. And be sure to cover the hole that the speaker fits in.
Apologies if this is a stupid question. I could be missing something here
But if you cover the hole the speaker fits in, how do you refit the speaker ?

He means the surrounding area around the speaker hole, something like a 12x12 square with a hole for the speaker opening.;)
