I thought id lay out some info for you. Will more than likely piss some people off, but im not suger coating it, and whether you agree or disagree, its my opinion as i see it now, and ive had enough of it, and if it continues as it is, then im out of here, because ive got other things i can spend my time doing, ive not had the best month of my life recently, so my temper is shorter than usual.

SEATCupra.Net is not a business, if it was its about as financially viable as a house with no roof.

Any money it has received which is little, has been used to further the site, with more bandwidth and space, which keeps it going for everyone to use, this is run on a server that isn't cheap, but the hosting is good, and speedy which is what we all want isnt it?

This is nothing to do with making money, and it seemed to be all about a good community spirit, this in the past couple of days is not what ive seen from certain quarters.

Its also quite easy to edit your posts, after the event, so what people read now isn't what was posted originally, so its hard for others to make a judgement one way or the other, and make it look like nothing at all was at fault, maybe if the original unedited thread had been read, they wouldn't be as supportive.

People side with other people, without knowing the facts of the matter.

Well if thats what you want to do, go right ahead, im not argueing the case anymore, im pretty sick of it and got my own issues to worry about.

Im tired of spending my spare time sorting out issues which are quite frankly rather unimportant

This is primary an information source, which works on the whole pretty well, myself and the rest of the people directly involved with this site are very happy it has and is working like it is.

But on top of that we also need dealers and SEAT themselves to support it, because without their input and some financial backing it wouldn't be the resource it is, and wouldn't be able to continue in the future.

And i'll say it again, critisism is fair enough, but when i have to read a personal attack on someone, which regardless whether you see it that way or not, it was an attack, when questions of profesionalism are thrown across a site, with little or no chance to defend themselves.

Especially as it would just turn into a slagging match as these things so often do. Ive never read a critisism of a dealer that has been so scaving, for something that didnt warrant it.

We don't censor comment, we havn't and we wont be in the future, unless its totally uncalled for, the posts havn't been deleted, but, what was seen as a pretty unproductive thread was shut down, because it seemed to us to be going nowhere fast, but its still there though go look.

If we received handouts under the table from dealers or SEAT i think we'd of deleted it, dont you?

Id also just like to make it completely clear who are the people in charge of this site, and in future if you have a grievance or an issue, or simply a comment to make let us know and maybe we can help.

Lee "Shaggy" Shand, Owner who even while at home has still been calling places to get them interested in the site, and trying to get new compos and stuff for us. (he is less active at the moment as he is still recovering from his recent back operation)

Martyn Thomas, basically Marts is the guy that keeps things running smoothly on the site and forums, hes the web guy and without his help it would all go pear shaped very fast.

Mark (Me), general dogsbody of the site, admins it, does reports, features. Helps to run it on a daily basis, but may not being, for very much longer cause hes pissed off.

These 3 above are the main people in charge of this site.

Plus lots of other people who contribute on a regular basis and help us moderate, and answer questions as well as organise events, and as part of this community are also consulted and advised on this site.

The main people who spring to mind.

Mark Phelps, runs all the track days, and contributes to the site regularly.

Saul, helps out moderating, doing lots of guides, and puts in a lot of time to help run the site.

Andy B, again helps out, and contributes to the site on a regular basis. writing features and news for us.

F2Stu big help in organising shows and events.

Pipsqueek Phill, again with Stu has helped run events, and also been on hand at the track days

Glyn Hopkins, again contributes regular and helps at the track days.

Plus all our other moderators, and contributors im sorry if i've not stated you by name, as your all valued.

Anyone else that wishes to contribute please do so by all means, your very welcome to help.

Well there you have it, probably pissed a few people off, but ask me do i care, probably not anymore.

Im just sick of reading the shite, and having to sort it out to keep the peace, well if you want to turn it into a ghost site, by all means carry on.

2003 is going to be a big year for SEAT in the UK, something we really want to be a part of, but at this rate im suprised if they'd bother anymore.

But the way i see it is make up your own mind, feel free to come to your own conclusions, but im not arguing with people any longer, and im not going to try and hold together a site that has certain people happy to help destroy it, for nothing at all noble in cause.

Im happy to continue trying to run it, to the best of my ability, but if people want to work just as hard to bring it down, then im fighting a losing battle.

For the simple fact its easier to destroy a good reputation than it is to build one.

Personally I think you all do a superb job and am glad to be a part of this mostly great crowd. I hope you will stay on as you are obviously an important member and from my experience a great assest.

We all f**k up from time to time and say the wrong thing, but should be big enough to realise if we over step the mark in hast or whatever and amit it and if necessary appologies or whatever.

This forum is so sucessful because of it's friendliness and we should all bear that in mind. It has made me some new friends and also given me a better social calender, so don't let us loose that.

I too would like to say thankyou, to all of you for your time and effort, and second whelme's comments - you must stay.

In the past i've been made silly comments and tried to change for the better (hopefully suceeded), and have got far more out of the site than i've put in so far.

If there's anything i can do to help please say, and i'll do my best to lend a hand where needed.

Please keep up the excellent work, it's the best forum / site i've been on - helpful, friendly, informative, fun, addictive - all the good things that must outweigh any bad.

As Mark has said I have been away for some time now recovering from my back operation. I should be back in the swing of things from next week.

I would like to say that I fully support Mark in everything he has said. He is a bigger credit to this site than he gives himself due for.

If he were to leave I would be pretty pissed off. Especially for the reasons he has stated.

So, read his advice and lets get back on track. This is not the kind of news I want any of our potential furture partners to dwell on. I short, it will come back and bite us ALL in the arse.

Mark mentioned the structure of he staff too. I think you should all know that there is not one overall "Boss" Myself, Mark and Martyn are all free to further the site as they see fit. This works well because we trust each other judgement implicitly. An example of this is Mark post above.

Mark and Martyn are not below me, we are on the same level. If you have any queries or problems you can speak to anyone of us.

So, lets get on with enjoying the site and our events and competitions and general chit chat. I would ask that you put your brains in gear before posting anything that could cause "Personal" upset to anyone.

best advice is if its a personal gripe with another member etc then take it off-line

we dont want this place going the way of other forums, this is a really friendly helpful place 99% of the time.

I'm very grateful for everybody's efforts. It's all your spare time used.

I agree that money to run the website needs to come from somewhere, and to be honest it doesn't bother me where it comes from as it's not my business or my website - those decisions are not for me to make. If everything's above board and honest (not suggesting at all that there is anything untoward occurring) then excellent no need for anybody to complain.

I would like to see more product reviews but I know these things take time and effort to write which few people have, especially at this time of year, and that freebies despite it being the season of goodwill are never in abundance (unless we want to review soap or coffee). I'd write some reviews but I have nothing to review :(

All of these things take effort, time and negotiation (it helps if, unlike me, you know who to talk to as well) of which I am grateful to all those who put in.

Keep up the good work everybody

guys having only been a member of this site for about a week i am not really in much of a position to agree or disagree with the points that you all field, i will say however that it is obvious that all of the members share a passion that seems to bond them together in a healthy and entertaining way and therefore it would be a travesty if such a superb facility were to fall apart.
i am a sales manager for a seat dealer but only took up my new job 2 weeks ago after working for nissan for 6 years and i was amazed at the enthusiasm with which the seat brand is discussed on the various forums on this site.
if any of you need any factual information at any time please feel free to ask me and i will tell you from the horses mouth as it were ( always nice to have someone on the inside !! ).
One question i want to ask...in the intial piece that started this thread a reference is made to "glyn hopkin" helping at meets etc. is this the "glyn hopkin" that i know who is the dealer principal and managing director of the largest nissan dealer in europe ? he lives in chigwell and until he got bored with it recently drove a ferrari 360 but now drives a skyline R34 GT V-SPEC. let me know please

Zboyd - I've not read the thread you refer to, but I presume by reading between the lines that someone has been moderated and then questioned the sites integrity. Well, unless people want to pay for the service of being a member (no, thought not) then certain people are going to have to accept that we can't go too far when having a go at the Dealers or other indeed other manufacturers.

And therein lies the problem - I think we can all agree that the Seat Dealer network had a lot to do to improve it's level of service. We know the good ones and most people are willing to travel to get to one. Why should we have to do this? We expect and deserve better. To be explored in another thread perhaps?

Six months ago I was looking for a new car. A car which wasn't like the rest. Something a bit different, fun to drive. I landed on this site and read with growing interest the way in which the other contributers had gone through the same learning curve. When I turned up at the dealer I was armed with all your knowledge. This site convinced me to buy a Seat Leon Cupra and I'm very happy about that.

Please, keep up the excellent work - all of you.

Didn’t see the thread or the comments made, so I can’t pass judgement.

However, at 16.35 today there are 80 active users on the site, so someone must be doing something right.

There will always be one that engages their mouth, (or keyboard), before their brains. It shouldn’t, and IMHO doesn’t, usually spoil it for the rest of us.

I also dont know of the basis for Z's comments above but sadly, all groups, like life, have their idiots.

I can only say that I find the site very informative, a great laugh and the vast majority of people who post here are sound. Further, I have made some good friends through the site. Its doing its job.

Keep up the good work and thanks to all involved, I would be sad to see it all go bad.

Ave it

Having been involved with SEAT's, the various websites we have found ourselves, the meets and the trackdays that i have attended i still find it amazing to this day how far we as a community have come.

We do owe a lot of thanks to the people who continue to help our community grow and prosper, whether it be the people who maintain this site and moderate, the companies that offer us discounts, the dealers that get involved and most importantly the members who turn up for the meets and trackdays and who get involved on possibly the most informative SEAT site i have had the pleasure of being a member of.

From owning my 8v i have found these people to be not only knowledgeable and entertaining, but quite a number of people i would now class as close friends having met a lot of them throught his site.

This again is due to this place being what it is, the forums are here for your perusal, people can come and go as they please, read and reply to what they like and also post about their questions, problems and experiences. There is no obligation or charge to use these forums, they are primarily an information source.
We cannot have IMO attacks against any individual person or company, it is not the way for a civilised person to behave, although people obviously NEED to hear about poor quality services or products, they must be backed up by some kind of reason.

They cannot be allowed to turn into a witchhunt or slanging match, this is not why these forums are here. If you look at a lot of the other car related forums companies names and indviduals names are edited or deleted from posts as to protect the interest of the other parties, we do not do this, but if things continue the way they are then perhaps it is something that may need looking into to protect OUR interests, there are always 2 sides to each story.

I support Mark, Lee, Marts abnd the other site contributors 100% in what they do as they hold the same philosophies as me when it comes to common interests and site related business. We will never all see eye to eye, i mean there are over 2000 members, but lets act like gentlemen, gentlemen.

I always ask people to email me if they have a problem with what i have written whether it be factual content or a question on modification or a problem with me personally, thats why my email addy is in my sig.

I have gained so much through owning a SEAT and being a member of these forums, treat people on here as you would wish to be treated yourself.

Thanks for reading

Saul

From my own point of view, all of the people directly and indirectly involved in running this forum should be thanked. It is, like a club, a thankless task sometimes and sometimes it might feel as if the effort isn't worth it, but in this case it is.
All involved do a fantastic job and should be proud of what they've done so far. I was a SEAT owner before joining the forum and have been happy to read the very informed views I find here. Keep up the good work, it is appreciated.

Thankyou to everyone and anyone that contributes to making this site what it is.

The reason I've a Seat is due to my last car getting written off. This means I'm paying out a fortune for insurance and will be for the next few years. If I could turn back time and go back to the day of the accident I'd do everything the same, reason being is, if not for that happening I wouldn't have met alot of the people I'm friends with now, wouldn't have the opertunity of the trackdays/social gatherings with like minded people...etc,etc.

Keep up the good work, I for one appreciate everyones efforts.

Think about what you've learnt, experienced and the people you've met through this site before you start f***ing stuff up!

Cheers guys;)

Run everyone, I'm going to be serious for a change!!
Since joining this site in August 2001, ive had the pleasure of attending 3 trackdays, meeting (in person) dozens of members and most importantly having a laugh with other likeminded people who share a passion for their cars (whether seat, vag or other). The forums are also a great way of unwinding after work and keeping up with the people I now consider mates. The fact its been running flawless for around 2 years shows the hard work, effort and commitment shown by the crew of lads that help keep it ticking over daily.
I for one am more than chuffed to bits that this site/forum and gathering of friends exists as it give me knowledge about something ive bought and hopefully i return the favour by adding any helpful (and yes i know, plain silly) posts up.
Im not too sure about whats been said off the forum but I hope that everyone can just sort out their problems privately and let this place continue to be the no.1 source for SEAT info and place to meet a load of decent blokes.:)

As i've been labelled a Tosser, funnily enuff by a tosser, i've decided i no longer want to continue spending my time here reading other peoples sad issues, and trying to sort out or smooth over the fallings out.

I dont do this, and use my spare time up to take shite from idiotic sad old men, who are not brave enough to say it to me, but would rather talk about me.

Really grown up that is, must be the generation gap eh?

So in future, get someone else to take the verbal bull. :looroll:

By the way feel free to flame whoever you like, im not listening, nor do i care.

Im just taking a break from the forums for a while, while i get on with my busy work schedule.
