It's getting close to my ICE time in the toledo. Have pretty much picked out everything except for the sub and amp.

The headunit will be:

good features and good sounding (maybe not as good as dad's Nak, but the Nak doesn't have all the features I want. Focal front & rear speakers.

What amp to get?
Looking for a sound quality amp that woun't break the bank. Sort of pending to a phoenix gold XS amp which I can get rather cheap (clearance item), but looking for opinions.

What sub?
2 questions hear: what size & which ones? Hear a pair of JL 8" in an A3 and they sounded mighty good. maybe 1 10"? I really don't want SPL, just a great sounding system will the full spectrum of sound.

I had one of Pheonix Golds QX Amps which was quite cheap, very reliable and good quality. Nothing special at the end of the day, but you get what you pay for!

From phoenix gold I've only heard the Ti series. Sounds awesome but then the price is out of control. Personally I've only/always used alpine amps. Looking to experiment with something else.

Have also heard the rockford amps. Tons of power big bang for the buck, but really not what I'm looking for.

I was also told that audiobahn AB amps are well priced and good sounding. I'm trying to listen to some.

I've got a Rockford 500.1 at the mo very good for the money, it's powering an audiobahn aw1251x and up front are some kenny dualmags powered by a 2 channel kenny amp I've also got some 6x4" jbl's in the back for some fill. I'm happy with all of it, it can be set up with loads of bass although I like it to sound more 'complete'.

Having said that the sub and amp haven't been put back in since Alconbury as the rear seats are never to be put back!!!

Just got back from the States yesterday. Picked up an Audiobahn A6601Q 6 channel amp along with some more Dynamat Xtreme. Hope it's enough for the entire system.?

The big question remains what sub?????? Does size matter;)
Should I go for 2 8" or a single 10" ???

Depends on the sound you're after...

2 8" will sound very punchy

a 10" will have more low rumbling bass...

I'm looking for low but tight and accurate bass.
My bass experience:

'84 Scirocco had 2 boston acoustics pro 10" in a bass reflex box(1st generation pro series). Each had its own soundstream d200II amp driving it. Tons of bass, much more than I'm looking for now!

'98 Ibiza had 1 Infinity beta-10 in a custom sealed enclosure. A soundstream d100II amp was driving it. Good bass even though a bit underpowered.

Wondering if the 10 will work in the bigger toledo.?
