Hi,

I had a bit of a blast the other day and turned traction control off as normal and planted the accelerator. The car *definately* didn't want to accelerate around a bend until the front wheels where straightened.

Maybe it's less pronounced with TCS off but has anyone got any info regarding whether TCS really does get turned off or merely tamed?

ta,
Matt

I have read that the Leon TCS does'nt go fully off, leaving approx 30% working or something??
I have also had this on my Ibiza, and was told if I turn TCS off when moving, it does'nt go off. I think this worked on mine at Combe when I tried it.

Yeah ive also heard this too, im pretty sure the TCS isnt completely disabled when you hit the switch.

The ESP system on the Leon (circa 2000) seems to be deactivated but the TCS is still active to a certain extent.

I often blip out of my mates valeting place, he always says give it some :D

So i usually ablige, with TCS and wet road and tyres (due to jetwash) i find engine revs drop rapidly and the car grips, but takes a moment or two to recover and get a good pelt going.

So trying it another time i turned it off, this time less of an effect and more sort of jumping coming from the front end as it scrambled for some grip, but its still not all out wheelspin, there is definatly still some big brother action going on, just not as much.

At Alconbury i lit the tyres up which was impressive :D, shit 0-60 you understand but the smoke was fun. haha

Did you stop the car before switching the TCs off. I remember reading that if you switch if off whilst driving, it wont go off. You need to first stop the car before switching it off inorder for it to actually switch off.

Dunno if this helps.......

Don't worry, as I've wrote again in some other threads, you have to completely stop the wheels before enabling or disabling the TCS. It's a ECU "problem". When the wheels are moving, data are being sended to the ECU and sometimes (not all the times) even if you press the TCS button, the state of TCS doesn't change.

I haven't read or heard anything thought for 30% on or something like this.

Thanks:)

Yeah i set it to off before i began to pull away, not while i was moving.

Ahhh, ok... (doh) so does turning TCS off while stopped really turn it off then?
