OK, a few questions for everyone 'cos the dealer I'm buying this Cupra off of doesn't really know his SEAT's very well.

1) The colour of the car is solid black (presumeably Ebony), from when was this colour made available?

2) What are the differences between the MY01 and MY02 models?

3) Is the chassis number method of finding the year of the car foolproof?

The reason I ask is because the chassis number suggests the car is an MY01 model (1R then 6 digits) yet it's in Ebony Black which I thought was only available since the MY02 models. Also, the dealer swears blind the car has come straight from the factory to a Spanish dealer to him, which would suggest an 02 model.

Finally, is it normal for there to be no Cupra badge on 20VT imports and if so, where can I get one from?

Cheers in advance people, and sorry for all the questions.

I think it was me who said ebony was only available on MY02......that's as I understood it.....but I guess I could be wrong? When I was getting quotes from various folks, all quoted MY02 spec, and only solid black was on offer.

I'm sure the chassis number 1 or 2 is correct....not sure of differences between MY01 and MY02 for the Cupra though....

Normal not to arrive with Cupra badge, but flapper will be able to get you one......

Not sure about the MY02/MY01 and colour query.

The Leon's from Europe don't come with a Cupra badge because over there they are called a Leon 'Sport' and their Cupra equivalant is a 2.8 V6 4WD and a 150BHP 4WD TD!!!!!!

Flapper is the man for a badge, give him your visa number and address and you will get it the next day, Top Man! It's about £7 and you just peel off the back and stick it on.

Where to stick it is another matter, there doesn't seem to be trend.

Cheers for the info guys, I'll get onto that flappy guy. :)

Is there any reason I shouldn't be happy about taking an 01 model, just out of interest?

none spec wise that i am aware of , its just if it bothers you when it left the production line or not ????

may well be because of the colour you chose ??

It has been stated that the MY02 Cupra comes with a "SEAT Sport" exhaust.

This is suposed to make no diference to the power output/delivery, but provides a throatier exhaust note.

I remmember someone saying that the MY02 rear box is a more flatter design than round!

This info' was gained through reading this forum.

Hope this helps,
Brian.

Cheers peeps, I'll try and get the full chassis number and post it here.

One final question; is the exhaust on the 02's any different to look at, or is it just the sound?

On the question of the MY02 sports exhuast - is it annoying at motorway speeds (70mph+)?
