Do you have any more information on this yet? Noticed it on your website a while ago and have been keeping my eye on it for updates, but thought I'd see what developments there had been?

Is this going to be a 'Revo' type product? Or a totally custom service? Or something else?

Rob

it wont be revo mate i would say they are developing their own coding and it will be very interesing to see the results

I imagine it will be AN Other bought in product

Buy the upload tool, buy the files - then upload and off you toddle

OBD Tuning, Dimsport are popular at the moment

i thought it would be some sort of custom tuning on their rolling road etc a bit like custom code is that the same as what u are talking about Mork or different

custom is word used in so many wrong places, not least tuning

the 'tools' allow for basic adjustments like boost & timing (think SPS3 with a third dial for revs)

ah i see

I know it wont be Revo, as they already sell Revo. I just used that name as an example of an 'off the shelf' product that we all know.

I had a thought it might be as m0rk says, but wanted to find out direct :)

From what i understood when i asked them it is their own custom map to your car.

Knowing JKM they'll be doing a lot of testing to make sure they're 110% on whatever they're doing prior to it going public.
In regards to 'custom' tuning, there are a lot of tools out there that allow you to 'custom' tune but the extent of what's actually changed from a base (ie: bought in) file all depends on the person/persons using those tools!

Well if they need a test dummy, my car is ready and waiting ;)

Hi Guys,

I thought that I would just do a post to let you know what is happening with regards to our in house software tuning….

This is something that is being worked on and developed by me (Keith) and Jim.
As there are only the two of us working on this besides our other tasks, the development time is not as quick as we would like! This is something that we are looking to address imminently….

Our tuning files are being written, developed and tested on our Rolling Road. This process will continue with customer’s cars.
As many other tuners will tell you, It would be easiest to skip development time and source a pre-modified map, although to truly understand how the engine is being controlled you need to develop your own map, and understand the control strategy.
This is made a lot easier for us on our Rolling Road.

A lot of owners now appreciate that most correctly operating, similar 1.8T engines or 1.9TDi engines (for example) will have very similar volumetric efficiency tables (engine breathing characteristics ) if equipped with the same components running under the same conditions.
So how different a tuning file needs to be from 1 car with the same hardware components as another identical car is understandably open to discussion.
I think this is where the ‘Custom v Mildy tailored’ map discussion is flagged up.

How customers want the power delivered can change and this is where we are looking to cater for those who want something a bit different, along with having the knowledge and ability to change our code to suit other hardware changes on the car if required. Taking advantage of up-rated components on the engine etc…

For most customers REVO’s superb code is more than adequate, and we fully intend to keep selling their software and products. REVO have an excellent record and much experience in the ECU tuning market and they continue to consistently be at the front with fantastic and powerful tuning maps.
JKM tuning will not be switchable or contain the adjustment like REVO SPS products offer.

For those of you who are interested, the main operating environment, and checksum correction tool that we are using to develop our files is called WinOLS.
Locating a Map in the raw ECU data is usually not to complex, however knowing what each map is for, and when it is used is another matter and very hard to know without lots of tightly controlled tests, and often with a memory Emulator in use as well. We have the ability to do this, and will use this approach at times.

A simpler approach to save time hunting for each of the maps, if you can find the right contacts to sell the information, is to buy a form of ‘Decode mask’ known as DAMOS file.
These files (and their derivatives) where wrote by Bosch / Webber / Siemens during factory development of the ECU’s.
These file ‘Decode masks’ let you know the names, locations and units (Degrees of ignition advance etc) of each of the ECU maps. The ‘Decode masks’ quite often get confused with buying pre modified files, which is obviously very different :-)

We can not really give a ‘release date’ as such for our in house tuning, as it something that is progressively being rolled out and the website will be updated with more information over the next couple of months. Sorry for the delay in getting back to everyone and I hope that this clears up some of the points and questions raised.

Kindest Regards

Keith at JKM

Keith, thanks very much for that post. It's something I'm definitely interested in, to the point of holding off getting Revo.

As I said slightly tongue in cheek above though, I am more than happy to be a test dummy when it comes to rolling out the code. I'm not far away, have a semi-standard LCR and am more than happy to pop back to JKM at regular intervals to let you take information and see how it's going :)

Keep us posted though, as I'm sure I'm not alone in being very interested in your own tuning :)

Any more updates on this guys and girls?
Looking to do something turbo wise soon and would need my ecu mapping and after having a good rr day with you would like to know what you could do compared to the usual tuners mentioned on here.
Many thanks

Hi there pj1985,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, things have been hectic!
What exactly did you have in mind turbo wise? We may be able to help you out with some mapping but it depends on the level of Turbo conversion that you are going for.

Kind regards

Keith

Hi Keith. Its nothing major. I was in the silver mk3 ibiza cupra at the rr day and you may remember my odd map which got the figures but in a weird way. Have a few more mods and new little turbo so will defo need mapping properly. I'll PM you.
