Hi Al,

How did you make your final payment to Wim at pruys?

It was scary enough transfering the deposit to a foreign bank account that you know sweet FA about, let alone the £1000's more for the balance!

I have been told by Wim to pay the balance in the same way I did the deposit before I even go over to Holland and see the car:eek:

Is this what you have done and is this standard practise?

It's not that I don't trust him, It's just a bit frightening forking out all that dosh for something that's overseas that you havn't had the chance to have a good look at!:(

Any input from anyone else would also be greatfully recieved.

I wouldn't worry about it - it's the easiest way to sort out the balance.
The only alternative is to take a bankers draft, but then you've got the worry of losing it, the hassle of picking it up from the bank, etc, etc

I know its a chance, but I've wired the money across as I did the deposit.

I guess I feel okay(ish) doing this 'cause;

Wim has obviously supplied many UK buyers and I haven't heard any complaints from anyone on this site about him.

He's a pukka Seat Dealer so I guess he must maintain a level of service, but in the event of a problem with the car I'm sure he would assist in getting in sorted back in the UK, he certainly comes across as a decent bloke on the phone.

But he may also be wary of taking a bankers draft himself, they can be forged very easily these days, a friend found out themselves not so long ago :( , and how easy it for him to check an British bank draft on a Saturday????

As I'm going this Saturday, I'll let you know on Sunday how it all went so you can feel happier about wiring the money to him. And I'll try and find out which motor is yours and I'll send you some pics of yours :D :D :D

Cheers Marc,

You have saved me a fortune putting me onto your guy Wim in Holland.

I filled out an online request for a car through micronet when I got a message from Wim saying he would get the car to the port in Rotterdam, quickly cancelled and saved myself enough to add on all the goodies that I am now getting with it.

Any joy selling your bronze Leon yet?

Cheers Al,

Mine should be the one with the sunroof (can't be many of those about!) and a nice set of 17" Cupra 4 wheels!

And the user name should be a slight clue as to what colour it will be!!!:D :D

The wife drives it all the time now so can't sell till the new one arrives. With a bit of luck she might smash it up and save the hassle ;) Mind you she's been on her driver rehabilitation course now, yawnnnnn
She wants to get on the PC now , so I'll have to go and have a beer or something

Don't be nervous about sending your money ~ this is standard practice and he's "kosha".

If you were getting your car transported back, the transpot company won't even give you a collection date 'til they get confirmation from the dealer that he has your money.

Word of warning ~ I initiated "immediate electronic transfer" of my money exactly 7 days before I went to get the car. It arrived in the dealers account on the morning of the day I picked the car up(!)......only just in time. Both your bank and the receiveing bank "hold" it for a couple of days to scrimp some interest from it......barstewards.

Cheers buddy,

I feel a bit better about it now;) Thanks guys.

I am expecting Wim taking delivery any day now so I had better get my scates on and get the money over there.
