View Full Version : Decision made - Toledo goes Cupra R

In September 2002 I bought a Toledo TDI from my local dealer. It was quite a change back then. I had a Leon Cupra4 TDI, but my girlfriend had an accident with the car only four weeks after I finally received it...

After a longer trial with the insurance company of the fool who wrecked my Cupra we had to make a decision. The Leon Cupra didn't exist anymore, so what to do? Besides, my girlfriend always liked the Toledo more than the Leon... so it came down to buying a Toledo TDI 110 instead. Cheaper but bigger in the end.

I'm happy with the car itself, I've had no major problems, but ever since I first saw pictures of the Leon Cupra R I knew that I needed to have a car that looks like the Cupra R... but what if you can't afford a Cupra R? Why not transform my Toledo into a Cupra R TDI? ;) :D

So this is what will happen:

I'm a quite regular member of seat-leon.de. There I got into contact to a guy whose brother has a little garage... and who knows how to do such kind of stuff. He made me a proposal I just couldn'r reject. He's going to transform my Toledo into a Cupra R. Front bumper plus side skirts from the topmodel of Seat will be the main attraction, along with 17'' alloys.

Has anyone ever heard of a second Toledo Cupra R? I'd like to know whether there are some other crazy guys like me out there... ;)

Now I'll just have to wait until mid-February. I've got an appointment then... :p

I know they had the idea to produce a Toldeo Cupra, at some point in the past.

The pictures are still here on the SEAT site, it used the Cupra 4 front end though as its basis.

Strangely enough it never seemed to go in to production, never here in the UK anyway, not sure about on the continent, though i also dont think it ever appeared here either, and was just a special one off for the motorshows of that period.

Personally id of had one if they'd made it, its looked great :)

A Cupra R Toledo would look just as good, though in my opinion if your going for the Cupra R look, i would not skimp on the job, and get 17s, do it right and get the 18s for it, it will look fantastic, they really give the Cupra R the stance and the look that makes them jaw dropping to see on the road.

Good luck, look forward to seeing the results :)

By any chance, do you think anyone could fabricate the "smooth look" like the Toledo Cupra showcar ??

Had my Toledo done up with Cupra-4 front and side skirt, but still trying to source for the rear bumper to have the clean shaven look

It would be great to see some "Cupra-R" Toledo :devil:

@ZBOYD

They never produced the Toledo Cupra. It was just some kind of a concept car they showed at some motorshows. The Leon Cupra is probably the result of this try. They opted to go with a sportsmodel of the smaller Leon, projected selling units were believed to be much higher. But that's also just second hand information.

Originally the real Toledo Cupra was equipped with the 204hp V6 engine... I would have liked that too... my purse wouldn't I suppose... :D

@mel4fun

No, I've got no idea what to do with the rear of the car. There is no such rear bumper that looks similar to the one of the concept car. I don't like it that much anyway...

But I'm also exploring options for the rear. Haven't found anything suitable yet...

Cypher: Yup pretty much what i said. Shame though they never produced it. Good luck with your transformation though. Don't forget to show us when its done :)

mel4fun: Id say seek out one of the specialist bodyshops, that have done custom cars, seen in the likes of Max Power, Fast Car, there are very professional outfits out there that could probably customise another kit or rear bumper to your taste.

Though im sure the price would not be cheap for such a unique job.

Cypher!!!

I thought of it and posted here a couple of months ago..But , as Cupra R is not imported to Turkey ( nor the spare parts of Cupra R) , I have never found the chance to do it. I remember ZBOYD wrote here original part numbers that I needed..

When you complete it; please inform me..I will be happy if I see a Cupra R look Toledo.
