Autolock 2000 Damaging Leather Steering Wheel

Not sure if anyone use the Autolock 2000 (or badged as Halfords, same device) Steering Lock on the Leon? I've been using mine for the past few weeks and it's starting to damage the edge of the steering wheel, and producing a "shiny" effect on the top.

Anyone have any suggestions to reduce this?

no suggestions but it did have the same effect on my old Mazda 121 - left 2 indents on the wheel which I just put up with...

I wasn't prepared to on the Leon though so I don't use a steering lock on it...

I find that i have to be very careful with my Stoplock on the Leon. It will only fit one way and it has to be perfectly placed otherwise it leaves a mark on the wheel.
