View Full Version : spacer thickness?
hi
on the ibiza, does anybody know what should be the thickness of the rear spacer to match the front?
the rear track is circa 40mm narrower, so a 20mm spacer on either side will do the job. watch out if you're lowered or running bigger wheels, you may rub.

I've seen a company selling them in Performance VW magazine and I think they were 16mm thick. I think they were about £50 which I though was quite reasonable.

Make sure they are hub-centric ones.
Another factor to allow for is long wheel bolts suitable for your wheel style. These can be radius seat or 60' taper seat. (eg. factory 20VT rims are radius seat fitment)

I'm running Bill's 20mm H&R spacers which I think are perfect for the job. They bring the wheel out just enough and IMO still make the car look stock. As you can see in the pic though if you had to fit 17's and lower the car you would probably experience rubbing.
I also would fit a set of 20mm spacers (stock rims, stock susp). I'm a bit worried about the reduced lifetime of the bearings. How about this?

None reported to my knowledge.
I don't expect any step change in increased wear.
20K miles on mine and no problemo..

Its only 20mm at the end of the day. I see what you are saying as in the lever principle on the bearings and did think about this before fitting them but like I said 2cm is not very much...
