This nearly made me cry, I havn't contacted Wim yet, I don't know what to do now, I have waited 3 long months allready!
Hi Lee,
I have news, but very bad news! I received your Leon this morning and saw Seat made a very big mistake: The car is not a 1.8 20VT but a 1.8 20V!! I have called Seat NL immediately but they can’t trace where the problem is caused. Probably has the factory mixed up two orders. I have an invoice for a 1.8 20VT 180 hp and not a 1.8 20V 125 hp. The worst thing is Seat will not pay a penny for the ‘damage’.
My humour is below zero at this moment!
We have two options to solve this: the first is I order a new Leon 1.8 20VT as you ordered. The car will be build in the last week of December so you have a delay of 2-3 month (it’s a shame, I know). The second option is you take this car and pay less.
Please contact me a.s.a.p.
Regards,
Wim Pruijs
Oh no......I really feel for you mate....that is sh1t. :( :(
If they have mixed two orders surely someone else has a 20VT that they don't really want.....??
You don't want to accept a non-turbo........but the wait will be really hard.....I can't believe this was not spotted before now ~ you've ordered a colour that is not even an option for the 20V SE ?!?
As a possible alternative ~ is it worth trying to recover your deposit and get a car from Motorpoint ~ they have a load of Leons in at the moment including several 20VTs with leather. Silver, blue and mandarin ~ no Ovniyellows though. :(
All at £13499 "ready to go".

Cheers bud,
I can't believe it got out of the factory and all the way to Holland without anyone noticeing.
Maybe Ovni Yellow is an option for a 20V in europe? they differ that much depending on regions. I definately don't want this car, I have saved like mad and waited till I was over 25, got 5yrs+ no claims and got rid of a DR10 that has been on my license before I went mad and splashed out on a brand new 'Sporty' car and now this happens....................I am gutted!!!!
I will have a look at motorpoint, don't know if I can be arsed waiting another 3 months, my insurance runs out next week and was hoping to renew it with the Leon.
Civic Type R.....Hhhhhhhmmmmmm?

(www.motorpoint.co.uk) No mandarins left, only one Imperial Blue and three silver.
There's £252 on top of the £13,499 to pay as well to get it on the road and the guy's really interested in pushing the 2 year extended warranty which is another £479.
The other thing is that the cars are all registered in Motorpoint's name to bring them over, hence you'd be down as second owner. Can have an effect on the resale value.
Saying all that, I'm tempted 'cos I was gonna pay £13,299 plus RFL (minus whatever discount the chappy gives me for it not having metallic paint) for a non-leather version. Hmmm...

BE WARNED !!!!!!!
If you are not the 1st registered owner and you write the car off in the first year ( god forbid ), you WILL NOT get a new car replacement, they will only give you book value !!!!
Just thought you should know.

That's with Admiral BTW so I guess it varies from insurance co. to insurance co.

I'd be mighty pissed off if I wasn't offered that choice, regardless of what I decided to do.
I think I'd be tempted by Motorpoint......it's a good price.
The only thing that ever put me off "supermarkets" was the sporadic availability and lack of colour/spec choice. The "2nd owner" may be an issue to you (it wasn't to me 'cos I plan to keep the car for yonks). The insurance "replace with new" isn't offered by all insurance companies ~ clearly given Fastshows' comment.
Since the timing of my purchase was "off plan" (flippin trees fault I reckon) it actually suited me to wait a few months to delay the car loan.....so the wifes' is closer to finishing.
As motorpoint have them in stock, and with leather too.....certainly looks attractive. Looks like you only have a choice of silver or imp blue.......weigh that up against another 3 month wait.....I guess only you know how important the colour is to you.

Not sure about 'option 3' I will find out tommorrow when I contact Wim.
I'm not gonna get back to him today as my head is now a shed!
I'm gonna collect my thoughts and try and relax with a crate of Stella tonight.
A refund though should be a cert, who ever is at fault, wether it was Pruys or some Spanish production line worker, it certainly wasn't me so I shouldn't be made to suffer anymore than I have today.
And if Wim and his men at Pruys want to keep their good (now a bit bruised!) reputation, it shouldn't be a problem.

Here is my reply to Wim, see what happens from here!
Hi Wim,
I am still in a state of shock!!
I definately do not want a 1.8 20V and at this moment in time I am not sure that I am prepared to wait another 3 months for a car I ordered in August.
I am unable to contact you from work as they wouldn't appreciate me ringing Holland from here.
If you need to contact me at work, feel free: ***** ******
But as I say I am now unsure on what to do from here.
I realise that this probably wasn't your fault but for the car to leave the factory and get all the way to Holland without being noticed is very bad indeed, I didn't even know they made the 1.8 20V in Ovni Yellow, they certainly don't supply them in th UK.
I would be greatfull of an explanation as soon as you find out what went wrong.
Regards,
A very pissed off Lee Saville!!!
Sorry to hear that Lee, can't imagine how you must be feeling, what a body-blow.
Hope that Mr S. Artois will help you get over things tonight.

FOR SALE: Seat Leon 1.8 20V (Non Turbo) In Ovni Yellow.
The only one in the world!!! Probably going very cheap.
Leather, Climate, Rain Sensor Pack and Leccy sunroof.
Contact wim@pruys.nl
Just spoken to Wim on phone, complete factory balls up!
The car turned up at Pruys with the smaller 15" alloys which made him suspicious, he then took a look inside to find a 5 speed gear box, he then took a look under the bonnett and of course there was the Turbo missing!!!!!
How the ferk did the QC dept let a 1.8 20V non turbo Ovni Yellow Leon get out of the factory without question????!!!!

I can't understand how they cocked up your order mate. Tossers. I know when I ordered mine I had to put the complete model down and use every detail to identify what I wanted ie Seat Leon 20v T Cupra 180bhp Model MY02. I still haven't got mine so I hope I'm not as unlucky as you....
The worst thing has got to be the fact that you were all ready to pick it up.....what a kick in the balls.

lee i am really sorry to hear your news, its a complete bum-****, hope he comparsates for any pre booked travel plans you may of made! i work has a sevice engineer in the service indusry and its a true fact (i keep reading good things about the boys over at amethyst) that ANY company is only has good has the last job they have done. any repartation can be badly damaged, it seems a very stupid oversite on too many peoples sides. it will be intresting to see what Wim will do to compersate and ensure this doesnt happen to anybody else, to happen to one person is bad but to two would be crazey. good luck ,tony

Some lucky b*stard somewhere has ordered a 1.8 20V, and it has got a turbo and a six speed box thrown in, I bet he/she isn't as pissed off as I am!!
It is certainly not Wim's or Pruys Seat's fault,
he gave me the VIN number of the car 2 weeks ago and when the car arrived this morning the 'Certificate Of Conformity' that comes with all new cars did state the Leon was a 20VT Sport which is what I ordered.
I just can't understand how it slipped out of the factory made in a colour that is exclusive to Sport/Cupra cars?????
I suppose it could have happened to any dealer and therefore any individual that has placed an order for a new car. (somebody must have something against me!)
But you are right Pugwash, procedures need putting in place within dealerships and the factory to stop a major balls up like this happening again.
As for compensation from Pruys, I doubt it very much, through no fault of theirs they are stuck with a RHD 1.8 20V non turbo in Ovni Yellow.............How the f*ck is he gonna shift that!!!!!??????:p
Anyway, I reckon it's time I took a trip to the local off-license and see how bolloxed I can get!!!
Sorry to hear about your troubles - crappy and pretty ridiculous really. How can this happen in 2001 for f***'s sake?!
However, this is one reason why I didn't bother with an import. I walked into a UK dealer, 25 miles from home, did the deal and collected the car 3 days later. Okay, no discount, but I did get well over book for my Impreza Turbo, was treated like a king and have a 2002 model in the colour/spec I wanted and have all the other benefits of a UK car.
Shop around Lee - with your dosh in hand, maybe you can do some kind of deal? SG Petch in Durham have/had a demo Leon in your colour - not a bad price too. Maybe not what you're looking for exactly, but might ease the pain a little. Saleman's called Terry - nice guy.
Good luck!

Cheers Toonman,
hope you had a good holiday and sorry for you know what.
Jeez Lee......I really feel for ya. The little fiasco I went through pales into insignicance, I can't believe this has happened to you, what a complete and utter f*ck up. You'd think Seat would bend over backwards to sort it out....
Best of luck
Al
ps shall I still get some pics for ya ;)

Al,
I also experienced delay, I was originally told it would be made in wk 39, when he told me wk 42 I was a bit pissed off but not too bothered about waiting another 3 weeks.
I am well tanked up now:cheers: lol, and still have a few cans left:D
I would be greatfull of some pics of that Ovni Yellow 1.8 20V SE as it is probably the only one in the world!! I bet it looks weird with the little alloys, It will be something to show the grand kids in many years to come I suppose.
As for Seat bending over backwards......I doubt it, they have even told Wim that they will not pay for the 'damage' as he calls it.
He tried getting a special RHD replacement made due to the error and Seat NL told him that I would have to go through the same procedure of ordering and waiting until they were doing a RHD production run!
Pruys is now stuck with this 'hybrid' car that they will struggle to sell and I'm sure they will be kicking up a big fuss.
I went to the off-license tonight and bought a 'What Car' magazine along with all my cans of Stella, I'm not gonna withdraw my deposit just yet coz if I do decide to wait another 3 months for a Leon I don't want the hassle or charge for transferring it over again.
Why do I feel so gutted? it's only a car for ferks sake, i feel like I've lost a limb or something!! I still have the brass and at the end of the day it's only a delay (even though it's a F*cking big one)
Just feels like I'm back at square one again, wondering what to buy, wether to be sensible and practicle, wether to go mad and get a sporty car and f*ck responsibilitie, I feel like I have to do all that research again before I commit myself to another deal!!!!
I need more beer!!!!.......I'm gonna be F*cking poorly tomorrow!!
I called the SEAT press office today for ya mate. They said you should try the customer service line.
Give it a go and let us all know the result.
Mention the site too.
Sorry to hear what has happened to you, I thought it was bad enough waiting 6 days for my car!!, very difficult to sleep at night, just dreaming what all the power would be like;)
But to have to wait another 3 months is unacceptable, this might be a good case for watchdog to get their teeth into for you, worth sending them an email about it just to see what they say!

;) ;) Hi everyone. Am new to all this, but have been readind comments on the board for a while now, and just recently registered, although had some problems activation the account which Martyn sorted. Thanks mate.
Anyway, I ordered my new Leon Cupra in Imperial Blue from Motorpoint on 10/10/01(should be a lucky date!), and they were not in stock but I have now been advised that they are all coming into stock in 2-3 weeks! I can't wait to get the car! Has anyone heard anything about Motorpoint(good or bad), as i would be interested in any info. I also think the extra warranty is not worth the money,as you can get extra warranty from places such as http://www.warrantywise.co.uk for much much less.
See ya round..

Cheers Mosser,
Tried watchdog a year or so ago when I ordered a pc fom 'Quantex' never said in the advert that the pc's were made and exported from America, to cut a long story short, I had to wait longer than I am gonna wait now for the Leon (if i decide I wanna get one now) and getting apologies and promises that were never made. By the time I got the PC it was out of Date and I never got a reply from watchdog!!!
If I had of ordered the Leon from a UK dealer maybe that would be an option worth considering.
Anyway enough is enough and I'm gonna have to take it on the chin and decide what to do now. I havn't lost any money and havn't experienced a decline in health, apart from maybe tomorrow morning (just a tempoary thing I hope)
So I need to look forward to starting all over again and experiencing all the things that made me happy like handing over a deposit, finding out a production week, getting confirmation that my new car has been built, recieving the VIN number and planning my ferry.
NOT.......I'm still ferking furious and the Stella's didn't b*stard work!!!!! :repuke:
lee,
What a F*ck up !!!
You seem to have had particularly bad luck.
Not surprised stellas did not work, you need Guinness for a real good hang-over.
We could not sleep either with exitement when our car was ordered, bought through a UK dealer with pros and cons, but would do it again.
I think it is worth waiting to get exactly what you want, there would be nothing worse than getting something else then thinking what it would have been like to have your ovni yellow cupra.
Hope things get sorted quick,
Steven

Cheers Toonman,
when I was doing all my research (3 months ago!) I was considering a secondhand 20VT, and after loads of quotes from import companys and direct from Holland I found it was cheaper to buy a brand spanker from Europe than a 10 month old Leon from the trader with 10k on the clock!
Even the 20 VT sports from Europe rather than UK Cupra's secondhand were still more expensive in the trader than a brand spanker! I figured I could get my motor from Wim, keep it a year and lose very little if anything in residuals when I sell.
I have bought a 'What car' magazine tonight and there is a feature in there about a long term Leon 20VT and they are still getting very good reviews, allthough if u look at the new car guide in the back it has fallen from having 4 out of 5 stars to just 3 stars??????
Why the f*ck is that? maybe due to the introduction of theCivic - Type R and new range of Rover/MG's??????
Some magazines just don't seem to show any consistency do they...? You're right about prices - they seem to be holding up at present. Few look what you might call "cheap". As I said though, try waving some dosh under a dealer's nose and see what they say.
I hope the Civic TR's better than the Customer Services dept. I asked for a brochure over 8 weeks ago; it arrived today. I'm not sure it would be for me anyway. I tried an Accord TR and there was no power below 6500 revs! Too much like hard work.
Mike
F*ck!! Seat quality control are obviously a bunch of absolute arseholes!!! Somebody down there needs to sort the stupid pricks out and like quick!
Really sorry to hear this Lee...dunno what I'd do if it happened to me...

Horror story or what?
I thought I'd double check my car as I had a question mark over which black I have.
Ordered Z4Z4 (Deep Space Black Pearl).
COC states Z4Z4
Sticker in boot states LC9Z (Black Magic Metallic).
I always thought the paint looked distinctly un-pearlescent. Grrr. Virgin Cars can expect a "nice" letter from me soon.

I am really sorry to here about this. I was feeling so smug, but no that I have read your thread, I just feel awlful. Is it worth contacting Seat HQ in Spain. They must have a Customer Services department. I trust your getting the money back?
It will be worth the wait.
