View Full Version : Strut Brace for a TDI
Hi guy's,
Does anyone know of a strut brace that will fit my Toledo TDI 150. There seems to be very little space to fit one, but I hope one can be found. Maybe one from the 1.8T can fit?
Come on guys, I starting to get desperate hear. Have looked through the OMP stuff without success:(
I'm pretty sure the 110 tdi one will also fit?? "Muchas Gracias".
I pick mine up on Saturday.
That's not what you want to hear though, is it :p
Are they easy to fit yourself or is it a dealer job ?
took me less than 10mins
edit : sorry for hijacking the thread prc
No problem guys (I hate all of U but f#ck it);)

Actually, like rage mentions it is quite easy (not as easy as the mk1 golfs, which had the bolts already attached to the strut towers). Easy DIY job.
bolts are in place on the beezer. simple case of remove 2 bolts from each side put strut brace on and re-insert nuts.
You will need to move the black box with the pipes on the drivers side. Dead simple though.

didn't know that! thought it was the same as the mk2 & mk3.
excuse my ignorance, but where exactly does this bolt to?

For the last few years (actually the mk2 Golf is the 1st I can remember) came with the upper bushing without 2 top-mounted fixing screws on either side of the bushing. The older mk1 model and from what rage said the newer ones come with the 2 fixing screws. Just remove the 2 fixing nut, place bar on and re-apply fixing nuts.

Now the big quaestion does a strut brace make any difference???
I have heard so much conflicting arguments.
To be honest i can really see it making alot of diff myself. Maybe in the horizontal plane.. to stop the top of the struts moving apart i.e. creating tension in the brace. But in all other directions i cant see it being rigid enough to do anything!!
:D
You would be amazed at the difference it makes. The handling is much tighter. The gains are most noticable on roundabouts and twisting road sections where the car feels much more stiff. I didn't believe that it would make as much difference as it did. I can't recommend it highly enough.

More money required for the budget, tut tut tut :D
ahh the other strut brace thread.
I agree that it makes quite a bit difference. I've had them installed in all my cars :), except the toledo:(
So just in case anyone stubles upon a strut brace for the leon/toledo, let me know. Thanks.
Looks like it might be the Forge Motorsport one.:D :D

This is if Peter from Forge can explain what is meant by coming soon;)
I also need to convince him to get a Samco kit going for the toledo;)
