An extract from a letter received today from Bryan Brothers SEAT in Bristol:

"...I am writing to inform you that we will no longer represent the SEAT franchise after 31st December 2002..."

Oh dear, how tragic ;)

I do not know the story behind this so will post no more on the subject.

Anybody know if North / East Bristol will be served by a new franchise? Might I suggest Seat UK give the franchise to a local family owned company that cares about customer service?

Look i'm crying, honest....fnar fnar :p

Dealers that represent multiple brands never cut it for me IMHO.

Hmm...yes another well run bristol SEAT dealership would get my support. But it's a two way thing.

I'm sticking to my local dealer i fink.

They should never have taken the Bristol franchise away from M.W.M Motors IMO.

I've been ok though. Since moving out of Bristol Holders of Congresbury are my local dealer now. Can't fault them.

Hmmm, wonder if i'll have one of those letters waiting on the doormat when I return to Bristol! Maybe Seat UK have been paying more attention than i'd previously given them credit for... It's not like they've been at all committed to the brand. On occasion i've had to dissappear out back to show one of their spares blokes how to operate ETKA! I wonder if they've also abandoned/lost their Seat franchise in Devon or wherever else it was...

I'd have to say that it's not before time. Selling one brand out of a conservatory it shares with the sales staff who deal soley in 2nd hand stock when the other brand you sell has a nice big plush showroom building doesn't exactly send the right messages does it? Having to walk through a showroom full of Citroens to get to the service desk and/or parts department. Regardless of how rigorously they stick to the approved corporate colour schemes...

I've heard nothing about a new dealership but at the moment i'm happy to deal with Holders. This will most likely change in the coming months when I move along the M4 a bit, but in the meantime...

Yeah, received the letter yesterday morning. Nice of them to give a few days notice before they go ...

I take it from the comments the Holders are the next best option for the Bristol area, will have to check'em out for the cars next service
(coming too soon..)

Well, back in Bristol now and no letter. Can only assume that as i've probably been a pain in the @rse for them to deal with, I don't warrant a notification letter...

"Next best"? No competition mate. Bryan Bros suck. Holders rock.

Staggers me to think that I have never ever heard one good thing about said dealer. I like to put an impatial veiw forward, but given the current Tsunami (I swallowed a dictionary) of seemingly genuinely bad service and general disinterest in a brand they used to sell, trying to bring a case for them would be like trying to make yourself save a lawyer from drowning.

Well, as they say, it's far easier to earn a bad reputation than to lose one. Why should this be? Probably because people expect a certain level of service. If they recieve that level of service, then it doesn't generally warrant any comment as it's expected. If the level of service received is below the expected, people get p1ssed off and have a good old moan about it. At best, Bryan Bros. provided an average level of service but never seemed prepared to go the extra mile. And frequently (in my experience at least), their level of service was below the expected level. I rest my case...

This has been only too apparent over the last couple of days. Firstly, i've still not received a letter from them telling me that they're closing their doors to Seat customers. Secondly, I expressed an interest in an ex-demo Leon Cupra they're trying to sell but which wasn't at their premesis when I dropped in yesterday. "We'll give you a call tomorrow when it's in, Mr. Hopkins" they said. Have I received a phone call? Have I f*ck...
