View Full Version : Seatcupra.net Members Sponsoring Of A SupaCopa Race Team.
Just an idea....
There is talk of some teams needing cash-backing for the forthcoming UK SupaCopa Series.
Howabout Seatcupra.net members pledging a reasonable set cash amount in sponsorship of a Team in return for some Seatcupra.net site advertising space on the Team's car/s and some priveledged access to the Team's pits etc at the races.
As a ball-park figure and for ease of calculations, if the individual contribution was £50 per season and 120 members were to participate that would ammount to £6000. With 20 races per season, 6 members could enjoy eg. priviledged guest passes etc per race.
There are many people far more qualified and knowledgable about this sort of thing on this site than myself. If they could add their input to this idea, then please do so. Would a ball-park figure of £6000 be enough to gain a Team's interest, I don't know, I'm asking!
IMO it would be great for the Seatcupra.net members to be actively supporting a SupaCopa Team in return for a closer look at the action.
I know that BTC needs per car a budget of around £2-3m/year - I would hope that the Leon's are cheaper to run, not least as a new Leon costs 2/3 what a 2nd hand BTC car sells for.
I'm not sure that £6k would get you that much stuff. Might buy us a 'seatcupra.net' rear hatch window sticker position. As for VIP passes etc I think we'd need to shell out a lot more for that. I'm quite sure £6k wouldn't get you any corporate hospitality, they'd end up making a loss.
I know somebody who sells advertising. He sold advertising for one the big budget F1 teams and his commission was well into 6 figures on one deal, and that's on a margin of something like 10%.

These rounds are televised yeah?
Lets make a huge seatcupra.net banner and sit near the start/finish line or just take a load of flyers along.....I'll hand them out to any decent women I see at the tracks..:D
I'm gonna make weekenders out of these race weekends anyway.
hope to see you all there!:)
some dates have been announced for..brands hatch..castle combe..croft..and rockingham..
no donnington yet unfortunately but some rounds yet to be announced that may be alongside the british gt championships or F3.
As for 6k being enough...each driver needed 75k I believe to be eligible to race.
As mentioned before we may get allowed a window sticker...just make sure the driver/team you sponsor is going to win or your sticker wont be seen:confused:
All cars are prepared by the same mechanics so its a drivers championship like the Palmer Audi was...
Trouble was with that people soon decided to boycott it rather than let everyone know what crap drivers they were:(
lets hope the same doesn't happen to this.

I read that it was 75K a car too. Given that car preparation is done by the SEAT Sport guys in the main, I'd expect a team to need around a further 7K to operate through the season. Taking Brian's idea on a step, that's 164 people to give a single car team 10% of its costs. A team at this formula level will probably have about 12 guest places available for each meeting. 10% of 12 = 1.2 places for SEATCupra.net backers. Over 6 UK SuperCopa rounds, thats 7.2 backers out of 164 :( Not such a great return odds-wise.
Nice idea though :)
(Were you sober Brian?! ;) )

Anyone know somewhere that does sew-on patches? My marshal's overalls would work a treat with www.SEATCupra.net across the back. I already have a SEAT cap for the new season :)
What are the dates for Brands, Combe & Rockingham? I haven't seen these dates yet. I'll have to stick these on the calendar so I don't double-book race weekends.

Cost for a season of racing (just the car and entry fees) is £70,000 but a good idea Brian.
It may be worth seeing if , as a site ,you can sponsor just one of the drivers, could be cheaper that way.
There is one agency dealing with entries I believe so I'll see if I can get their details next week.

Dates so far officially announced...
Brands 3-4 th May
Castle Combe 21-22 June
Oulton Park 12-13 July
Croft 26-27 July
Thruxton 9-10 August
Rockingham 27-28 September
I think there are to be 10-12 rounds so some of the rounds will be guesting on the British GT/F3 packages..but dates have yet to be announced...
I'll try and find out what other cars will be racing on the above already posted dates...
