Cheers:devil:

that will be a nice conversion if you get it done, i reckon you are probably looking at around 6-8K.

Have you ever consider a VR6 conversion. ?

Ive been to Awesome GTi today. :) Jim Cotton, top bloke, they run a real professional outfit there.

The cars they've done are truly Awesome ;)

Been today with Saul and Mike Kitson, hes a really welcoming bloke, helped us with lots of questions we bombared him.

Got a RAMAIR panel filter for my Leon, its a panel filter for a Golf Mk4 but its identical, fitted nicely and has improved the cars smoothness superbly.

Lightly oiled dont want to damage the MAF, though Jim commented its happened very rarely if at all on the Golfs they've seen, and mainly if the filter is dripping with retention oil.

We rubbed off all the excess oil and fitted it while we were there.

about £30 odd quid

I also got some Aluminium flush fit door pins, look very stylish :)

These guys down there know what there doing their workshops are top rate, and i believe your car would be treated with respect and the job would be superb.

He was very interested in the cars too, he's very enthusiastic about the SEAT cars, though he is truly a Vdub man :D

But were all part of the family.

Mark

I too was very tempted to goto Awesome GTI to do the conversion, i was toying with the 1.8T or the VR6, in the end opted for the power and reliability of the VR6.

Awesome quoted around 10K for a 1.8T conversion, as the engines are still new and not tested as the VR. for a VR6 conversion i was told around 7K, with the 3months warranty.

After umming and rrrr'ing and final took the car to Dubsport were they did the conversion. What persuded me to do this was the previous conversions they had done,

2.9 Lupo
Twin 2.8 VR6 Golf
etc

Which ever of these 2 garages people take their car too, they will not be dissapointed, both have a high reputation, and the standard of work is top notch, i sure you will agree.

The only downside to Awesome is that they did a VR6 conversion in a SKODA, and when completed the skoda was, so i have been informed, not very impressive.

The best place for info on conversions would have to be www.performancevwmag.com , check out the forums.

Cheers

i've seen the pvw site and a few weeks ago there was 1.820vt out of an audi tt in there for 1700 ukp now that would be worth a look 225bhp and all the bits to go with it -k04 turbo twin intercoolers etc then get someone to fit it ,could work out cheaper, or wot about an s4 conversion 400bhp anyone:eek:

now that would be a nice conversion, and i reckon i nice price too.

OK, so no matter wot lump you decide you have to think about

1. Will your car be unique
2. How fast do you want your car to go
3. How much are you prepared to pay for future improvements
and the ultimate question

Do the birds like it.....

Maybe next year i may think about putting the 2.9 throttle bodies on my VR, then boring it out to a 3.0, with turbo charger or supercharger., either way i am looking around 290bhp. Doing this, i will have to turn the car to 4wd or i will get no traction at all.

You guys seen what Mr Truluck at Jabbasport has done with a 1.8T engine......

whacked one into a Golf Rallye........4WD...on the rollers....it produced an unthinkable 349bhp at the flywheel!

Now thats what i call MAD!

He reckons its still got a bit to go too!!!

Thats that idea out the window then. Go on - do the sensible thing and buy a 1.8T Cupra

Awesome have already quoted me £4500 for the 1.8T conversion, I think ill go for that cos im after building a unique car, or as unique as i can. I just dont wanna go down the road that some dude had done with his 106 that I saw at Maccy D's last night. Viper stripes, green headlights and the original steelies with dustbin lid trims!!! Arse.

there is no way i would pay anywhere near 4k to get my beeza converted to 1.8t, if i had that sort of cash i would just buy a brand new shiny cupra with warranties etc. vr6 sounds nice but not for that money.

but you cant buy a new car for 4k, and if u did you'd just be one of many on the roads. I want to drive a reasonably unique car and ive not seen a 98 ibiza with a 1.8T engine in it!!

£4500 sounds reasonable to me. Star performance have recently quoted me £7k+ for it.....
