TWO MONTHS BEFORE THE EUROPEAN LEGISLATION ENFORCEMENT

SEAT offers a two-year warranty on all its models

Since 1st November 2001, SEAT will offer a two-year unlimited mileage warranty with the purchase of any new vehicle. With this initiative, the company is two months ahead of the European legislation enforcement which will require all carmakers to offer the 24-month warranty in member countries of the European Union on 1st January 2002.

The two-year unlimited mileage warranty covers all SEAT models against any factory defects, including parts and labour. Furthermore, the 24-month warranty also covers original spare parts and accessories.

This measure, which extends the warranty outlined in the current legislation by one year, will be adopted by SEAT on all its models as of 1st November in all the countries of the European Union, Switzerland and Norway.

In Spain, moreover, SEAT offers the possibility of extending the warranty by three additional years with the "Superwarranty".

It makes a difference to those who import a Seat from another EU country as previous to this announcement the standard warranty was 1 year. As Bill mentioned, UK supplied cars already had a 3 year warranty.

I'm guessing that when you bring your imported SEAT from Europe, and register the car with SEAT UK for the Warranty, you will be issued with 2yrs as oppose to one.

I don't think it matters when you ordered it, it's when you register it with SEAT.

In Israel we get only 1 year manufacturer's no limit, bumper to bumper warranty and about 2 more years of "Good Will" manufacturer's warranty....

Well, what does it mean? It means that if the garage owner wants, and if the importer wants and if SEAT's representative wants - than, they'll "consider" picking up the bill or some of it.... If you are a "GOOD AND LOYAL" customer! Anyway, you NEVER know if they'll give you the nice treatment or the boot...

How about that....?

What is the difference between the 1 year manufacturer warranty and the 2 year dealer warranty?

The difference is in the book keeping!

In the first year the manufacturer pays for the damages - i.e. work and parts. In the following years the dealer/importer pays the tab usualy through an insurance that he buys.
