So what are we all going out of our tanks? Would like to know what the 20V 1.8T's get, and 2.0 16v
Mine is 40ltr, got VR6, 2.8, getting about 250miles a tank, around 28mpg

All depends on style of driving....and me, i get 25-30mpg on a lucky day!
I avg 22mpg....but thats due to lots of short trips to work...constant accelerating and braking....and overtaking manouvers etc.
It drinks a bit....but hey, its mighty fun while its doing it!
Never bought the hot hatch with econony in mind!
Oh....this is from a chipped up 20VT.
All of my driving is very long runs with very few stops, motorway speeds are around 90-100 average, and it is pushed quite hard on a and b roads,
I get between 310-340 miles on a tank of fuel (340-360 with the wife in the car!!), each fill up is about 52-55 litres and i worked this out to 33mpg!
I thought they were 45 litres
my 1.4 gets like 30mpg ish
re-calculate yours for the bigger tank.

I have to keep a log of trip mileage, total mileage and litres put into my car for tax reasons (company car),
If anyone wants me to put these into a spreadsheet and post them up i can and they can calculate my mpg's themselves to double check my results if they want!

that would be cool, a nice little tool that works out the mpg.
mphelps - did not realise the tanks in the beeza's were 45 ltrs, the maximum mine has ever took was about 42ltrs.
I have the calc for working out mpg, here it is; it was taken from the forums in performance VW
when you fill the tank up reset the trip computer, use that tank up and fill up again and make a note of how many litres you put in. Multiply the litres * 0.22 and this converts into gallons. Then divide the miles you did by the gallons.
i.e you fill up with 40 ltrs and did 250 miles. 40 X 0.22 = 8.8 gallons, then divide 250 / 8.8 = 28.41 mpg
In my Ibiza with the RSD 210 conversion I get around 28-32mpg normally (I'm trusting the trip computer), 25mpg when having fun over the weekends and over the last week I was getting 43mpg.... yes 43mpg on my way to work (Driving at 60mph for 30 miles around the M25)!!!
Unfortunately I cannot handle driving at 60mph on a motorway anymore.... its embarassing being overtaken by 2CVs and lorries, so now I'm back to my normal 28-30mpg!

I have a standard non chipped Beeza Cupra 1.8T.
I get on average 26mpg (trip computer).
I drive 12 miles to work across from one side of hull to the other and 12 miles back in the evening. It is very much stop start stop start while going through hull, but up into the villages out where I live (west of hull village near humber bridge), it is more open so I can push the car more.
I do tend to accelerate quite hard although I don't drive at high speed most of the time. I don't expect to get much more than 28mpg out of my car the way I drive and the conditions I drive in, so anything between 24 and 28 is expected.
As someone else said, I bought the car expecting it to drink fuel so I aren't too fussed about the mpg, just enjoy the car I say..!! ;)

I know the original question was asking about turbos and valvers but just though i'd let you know what i get out of my 2.0 8v - long term average is between 37 and 38 mpg. Driving is mostly fairly long motorway journeys (typically 80-85ish), with some pretty rapid back road thrashes (just ask the guy who navigated in the road rally I did last week :D ) and some cross town journeys. Very little rush hour commuter stuff as I cycle across Bristol most mornings (and then back again in the evening). Will be interesting to see how head work, cam and chip affects things...
As MarkP has commented, a standard mk2 Ibiza tank is 45 litres, not that it makes any difference if you work your figures out brim to brim.
Just one other thing - i've noticed that fuel grade seems to affect things quite a bit, like getting 10% better economy of FRESH 97RON super unleaded that 95RON. Reason why I stress the word 'fresh' is because stale 97RON isn't 97RON at all, as the octane rating degrades, so you end up paying extra for regular 95RON. And before anyone asks, no i've not tried Optimax yet, but from what I hear, the turbos love it...

Reading some of your comments on fuel economy, my opinion of my 20VT Ibiza has changed from being poor to obviously quite good. My daily journey is about 20 miles each way along the A14/M11 into Cambridge and this last few weeks it's averaging 34MPG on the computer. Normally it's around 32 - 33. I thought this was bad as I used to easily get 37MPG from my 16V Cavalier SRi.

Fuel tank on 1.8 20V T is 55 litres... (Does that beep noise make you jump too, when you run low on fuel)..
There are 4.54 litres to a gallon, so divide litres put in by 4.54 and then divide miles travelled on that tank by calculated figure. Pretty much the same as above with the multiply by 0.22 but this is a teeny weeny bit more acurate. Ie. 250 miles on 40 litres = 28.375 compared to above example which works out 28.41.

Hmm, the handbook says 45 litres and my record for filling mine up, the computer had been saying 0 miles left for 20 miles :), was 43.9 litres......

aye..
I only ever manage to get about 40-43 litres into my car. I do fill up pretty much about 15 miles after the alarm comes on (yeh that beep sh*ts me up everytime).
there are only 2 garages that sell optomax in my area so I fill up asap when the alarm comes on as I don't want to get caught short. but the tank size is officially 45 litres in the Beeza..
It may well be slightly larger on the Leon..??
The Audi A4 1.8T (which is the same engine) however is obviosuly different.. as it has a tank the size of a small passenger jet I think.. My bro fills up half the amount of times I do.. :s
oh well.. mine sounds rortier than his does.. so nur nur nur nur.. :p lmao
I believe the Leon has 55 litre tank. I have managed to put
44.5 litres in, I was praying that it would make it to the next
services....
I'm havin' to put up with a piffling 51mpg at the moment
Only just done 1000 miles right enough, so this should get a little better.
Just as well, 'cos I;ve already got a deposit down on those new slippers ;)

If we're talking tank sizes, I once managed to get 46 litres into my 8v Ibiza (with 45 litre tank), but that's what you get for brimming to the top of the filler neck which isn't included in the tank capacity. Just as a general note, it doesn't pay to run the tank too low as you end up dredging all the crap and sediment up than usually settles to the bottom of the tank. Blocked injectors ahoy! :(
Glyn
The Leon has a 55ltr tank, which is a fraction over 12 gallons. I've put 54.3 litres into it... Just about running on fumes I think! At least the car didn't start coughing and spluttering like an Impreza Turbo, when it got down to the last gallon.
The handbook says there are 7 litres left when the buzzer goes off - enough for 45/46 miles at 30mpg. Mine goes off with around 15 miles worth of juice left - around 2.27 litres at 30mpg.
My best mileage so far is 31.87 (running in) and worst was 26.3. I seem to get around 28 most of the time driven hard.
Mosser - your 33mpg seems suspect. Even if you take the 360 miles a tank (with Wife in!) and your lowest fill amount (52 litres), then that makes 31.52mpg. Take your lowest miles (310) and your highest fill amount (55) and that gives 25.66mpg. Average your mileage (310 - 340 = 325) and that still only gives 28.45 with a 52 litre fill up - 26.9 with a 55 litre one (and you'll be on fumes too!).
4.55 litres make a gallon. I've always divided the litres by that to give the gallons and then divided the miles by the gallon amount.

When I wrote above that the tank size was 45ltrs of course I meant the Beezer. Steve must have been talking about the Leon. I must stop assuming people have the same car as me.... :hammer:

eek,
my 45 litre tank cordy has gone from any where from 9mpg to 44mpg depending on the "driving style:hammer: " fill up wise if i put a fiver of 95 ron in i get about 34 miles , maybe more but dont really want to dredge the tank, have put 46.5 litres in b4 when my car ran out of petrol coming in the slip road to the garage (how lucky was that!!) back to the mileage bit, if i drive the car easy or hard in my daily runs around the city or surrounding areas I get only lose about 2 miles to the fiver!!
But when im on longer runs I seem to gain about 5 mile per fiver somewhere along the line, billy bonus!!
optimax is great, when i was over for curby i only used two tanks the whole 5 days!!that included fleetwood (above blackpool) to curborough to cardiff back to fleetwood , that also included the trackday and the faffing about and sightseeing, cardiff has a lot of nice women you seee boyoo!!! also noticed a nice little extra shove on acceleration, was still noticeable with all the gear in the back and 2 up, pity its not over here yet!!:drink:
How accurate is the Ibiza trip computer?
I always reset the counters when i fill up with petrol, and over the course of a whole tank of fuel it says that I am averaging 28mpg, however the tank is 45litres = 10 Gallons, and I'm only getting about 220miles per tank.... so that would only be 22mpg!

I knew what you meant - not a problem.
I filled my Leon tank again and got 54.3 litres into it (again!). Got to stop getting so close to the bottom... Gonna run out. :hammer:
