Does anyone know if you can totally remove the Rec valve off the 20vt? All turbos have a wastegate bolted to them so in theory don't need a secondary relief valve? This would also make the chipped up 1.8T's sound very nice as a wastegate chattering sounds mint in true cossie style fashion!

Its there for a good reason. To prevent undue loads and compressor stall on full boost closed throttle..
If you want noise, fit an external dumper :)

If you did manage to do that, then you lag times on gear changes would be huge!, and that would slow your car down,

i noticed that the lag completely dissapeared when i went from the standard plastic bosch valve to the Forge DV006

Same here - lag is 0 now I have a forge...

...sign of a faulty original unit that!
