I have a 97 Ibiza TDi, enigne code 1Z AHU, which i have been told is a 90 BHP engine?

Im looking to chip this - the option im looking at would be the upsolute chip.... it seems to give good performance for very good value

Anyone think of any other options at similiar prices?

Cheers

There's dozens of companies that will enhance your TDI, and will offer either chipping of Tuning Boxes which all work on the same principle but in different ways.
A Tuning Box plug in device is easiest if you live a long way from a decent tuning company or otherwise you need to have a new chip soldered in.
Star Performance is in Scotland and might be worth a shout but there are loads more if you wanna travel a long way.
By the way yes it is a 90bhp engine and yes you get good results modifying(sp?) it.

Cheers,

Just checked there website, they can up it to 108 bhp which isnt bad but upsolute can put it upto 116bhp and for the extra 8bhp id probabally be prepared to go down to teh nearest upsolute dealer i think....

Don't assume all quoted bhp figures are genuine and will apply for each car as they only show one model tested on a given day on a different rolling road and figures can vary quite a bit.
Also TDI tuning amongst other things will involve extra fuel being introduced and some of the conversions can prove smoky under acceleration (mine is on the limit now at higher rpm).
Some of the more conservative states of tune will also make the car smoother. My old 97 TDI was so responsive after tuning it was impossible to keep a steady speed on the motorway, it just kept darting forward all the time when you so much as brushed against the accelerator when the turbo was on song!- When the novelty wore off it was annoying.
Not wishing to show any disrespect to Upsolute as their conversions seem highly rated and I have no personal experience of them, it's just a case of suck it and see with tuning sometimes. It is well worth speaking to various tuning companies though as all their methods vary somewhat (like any workman has their own way of doing a job).If you can actually speak to them rather than just look at quoted figures you can get an idea of what suits you.

Upsolute in Scotland thread in the Tuning section will be well worth a look if you're still keen on the conversion...
On the other hand van Aaken do a conversion which also includes higher flow injectors and is good for around 130+ bhp and can be fitted yourself (or by another competant mechanic)and is a similar conversion to mine (but without the smoke!).
