View Full Version : Need Info from the Cupra and Cupra R engine and chasis
Need info from the Cupra and Cupra R engine and chasis, Ill like to know if they are the same as wath? S3, TT180, A3,A4?, I live in Mexico and I have a Cupra 2002 and Im going to trade it for a Cupra R, and my brother is going to keep the 2002, but I need to know about the engine so I can buy the part from USA, and they do not have this kind of cars, and the same for suspension parts.

if its ibizas youre talking,the cupra is basically the same engine as in the golf4, although the inlet manifold is a tt 225 item because the seat intercooler is at the other side. the r is basically the same engine only running higher boost(chipped from the factory). so if you intend chipping your r you will be dissappointed as the outcome will be the same as the ordinary cupra. the tt180 etc all have the bigger k03s turbo, the hybrid one as in fact does the leon. this turbo was never fitted to the ibiza.hope this helps

second answer then the leon is basically the same engine as the s3 without the 4wd. it is detuned slightly to 210 bhp by running less boost. it is not the same engine as the 180s as the r has stronger internals as in the s3.the standard cupra is basically the same engine as the 150bhp golf but has the higher spec turbo, hence the 180bhp, although the internals are identical.

Ill like to tank you for your help, I do not know why the system never give me the mail about your answer, but today looking I foun it , beter late than never no? , as you maight notice my brother did not buy me my car so I culd not buy the Cupra R yet, so I start to put it all the mods to this one.

Could be wrong but i thought the R differences from the Cupra were the twin intercoolers (and therefore diff. inlet manifold) plus the K04 turbo (cupra is K03). AFAIK the internals of the engine are the same...
afaik, all the 200bhp plus versions have lower compression and the stronger pistons,etc.
