View Full Version : Insurance renewal? Greenlight vs Elephant
Hi all,
Its renewal time, and im in a bit of a pickle.
Basically, I have been with Elephant.co.uk since I got the FR and the insurance is now down to £790 for me and my gf with 1yr NCB on a 10month policy. However, the 1yr NCB is on the 10month bonus accelerator policy which entitles you to 1yr NCB after the 10 month duration (its for younger drivers with no NCBs really). So after an online quote from Greenlight they have came back really competitive, its now down to £780 for 12 months (saving me about £15 a month in credit card bills)
My question is does the fact that I have 1yr NCB from the 10 month bonus accelerator policy make a difference to this? Has anyone done the same thing?
Cheers :D

Providing the proof from Elephant shows 1 year NCB then it will be fine. If they issue proof showing 10 months then this would not be acceptable as they haven't given you the year.

Thanks Neil,
Was going to give you guys a call back tomorrow to settle this up (still at work :( ), ill double check my No claims proof tonight so we can get this sorted :D
Many thanks for the reply,
Best regards,
yeah elephant do put the 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 :) and I shall be swapping over in July when i get my 4th :D
Another spanner in the works. Just had a reply from Noel Dazely regarding a quote I made the other day and they have come back even more competitively priced.
Has anyone been with both to offer me impartial advice (via pm ideally?)
I was with Elephant and am now with Greenlight (who should have received all my paperwork!) .. Elephant were £220 ish more expensive .. now the annoying thing was they offered to match my quote after the event. As said on their survey form, if you can afford to do that, why not offer it in the first place .. grrrr! I know it's a business I'm not that stupid but it is annoying! I'd consider Elephant again if they offered a competitive quote as I've never had a problem with them but it does annoy me when they offer a same quote when they didn't do it in the first place. If they were that worried they should have done it in the first place </long winded, boring, dull rant>
After rustling through my paper work it does indeed state One Year NCB so thats good news. I spent 45 mins trying to call Elephant to inform them that I will not be renewing my policy, only to be kept listening to Jamie Cullum (the whole album through). Hopefully Greenlight/Noel Dazely can offer me a much superior service to that :D
Will hopefully be sorting it out during dinner today :D

I can assure you would not be on hold with us for 45 mins, and we don't have the Jamie Cullum album on our hold music :D
If you decide to go with us i'll speak to you this afternoon.
Best regards

Thanks Neil
Its good to hear that Jamie Cullum is not your choice of hold music.

i have found greenlight to be excellent and plan on renewing with them*
I phoned up Greenlight yesterday for a quote. £200 and bit cheaper than Elephant. Noel Dazely wouldn't even quote me :\ Chris Knott was about £50 cheaper than Elephant. I didn't tell them about the greenlight one.
Anyway, I called up greenlight this morning to go ahead with the policy - straight through both times, think I might have been on hold a total of 2 mins for both of the conversations together.
Now all i need is to cancel current policy and get them to send me my horrible horrible proof of no claims.
