Just before xmas I took my new car into my local dealer (sutton park) to take a look at my horn that had never worked.
As expected they confirmed it did not work and I needed a new horn!

This was put on order. I then got a call after xmas to say the new horn had arrived put it was the wrong part as it was the wrong fitting for an import!!! This was a surprise as I thought a horn was a horn. Apparently there are no others in the country, but they have it on urgent order!

 If true are there a lot of parts on imported cupras that differ from those purchased from a uk dealer???

Hmm, an interesting one.
Is it LHD or RHD? If RHD is it UK Spec? If the horn has never worked, I'd be asking myself 'What else was not checked on the PDI? (if one was done at all)'. I presume you have registered the car in the UK with SEAT now?

As far as parts, there will probably be differences even if you bought a RHD UK Spec, as it simlpy isn't possible to get TRUE UK spec from mainland Europe. If its LHD, you will always find it takes longer to get LHD specific parts for your car as the UK distribution does not hold them. However, many parts will be interchangeable, left to right hand drive, yet as you point out, a horn is a horn, surely? Whether this is just a classic example of the 'X' factor, or something else... I cannot say, without a diagnosis/inspection in our workshop, but a Leon horn is something I expect most dealers keep a couple of in stock!

Hope this helps, and if you think we can help further, drop an email to myself or Martyn or give us a call on 01908-351199 and give us the details of what you need.
Regards,
Tim

Yes the car is rhd and full uk spec.

My next move was to ring round another couple of dealers and enquire if they had any in stock.

The car was registered before xmas by my local dealership, I did ask if I would be sent confirmation, how can I find out if the car has been registered? Surely I must receive some paperwork detailing the length of warranty and what is and isn't included.

Thanks for your help anyway.

Having checked on the workshop diagrams, there are a number of other horns apart from the standard units, for vehicles with dual tone and/or integrated alarm sirens, and I do not keep these in stock, I only keep the most common unit. Therefore, it could well take some days for your dealer to get the right one.

With regard to the warranty, you can contact SEAT customer service on 0500-222-222 who should be able to confirm your vehicle is now listed. However, it does take some weeks to receive process and send out confirmation. I assume you provided the V5 and other documents to your dealer? If not, then they will not be able to do this for you and I would suggest you deal direct with SEAT yourself to resolve this, on the above number.
