17953: Throttle body maybe corroded due to water ingress
You can buy them of E-bay fairly cheap I think.
I think your looking at a new throttle body maybe...
Anyone???
Cheers Chris!
Ohhhhhh god this looks expensive
Could anyone shed some light on whats up with my lil car?
Thanks again
Michal
Looking at previous Threads, I would say maybe a throttle body has gone.
Not sure if you can try a TB allignment?
It could be a number of things
Just did a search about TB alignment and found this site: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/index.php/Throttle_Body_Alignment_(TBA
Does that need to be done with vag com or is it something i can do myself?
The instructions arnt that clear or im just not reading them correctly.
Check you have code for head unit.
remove negative of battery for few mins, then reconnect, ignition on but engine not running. leave for 3 mins or till highpitched whine from engine has stopped before starting

I followed your procedure but nothing happened...so i though i may have connected up a bit too early so i disconnected the cable and left it for around 20mins....came back connected it all up switched the ignition...left it for a few secs then tried to start it...nothing....second time round had my foot flat on the accelerator and it burst back into life...idels like normal and everything :)
BUT the EPC and engine light is still on and i dont want to take it out for a drive incase it decides to die on me again.
I have never been so confused by a car in my life!
Any ideas on what it could be?
Cheers
Mystery to me... Obviously when the RAC man tried to disconnect the battery for a bit, he didnt leave it off long enough.
I'd be tempted to drive it up and down the road a few times, to see if anything happens.
I think you have to leave the ignition on for quite a while before the alignment starts.
Well i decided to take it out for a few laps of the roads around me...felt ok but a bit down on power...then the EPC light flashed up again...so i chickened out and decided to get it home!
I dont know wether to laugh or cry
Anyone care to add there 2 pence worth?
:)
