At the gas station this morning another toledo owner could not get the electrical fuel door to open. There was some sort of problem with the opening switch in the center console.
While trying to help him out we got to the conclusion that there is no way to open the fueling door in case of an emergency. Is this a design flaw or what:confused: :(
It's bad enough that the damn thing is electrical (I forget to hit the switch most of the time) but no fail safe is very very bad. Even the ibiza which only locked the door (when you locked the car) had a fail safe string on the inside of the boot.

We where finally able to open the fuel door, but only after removing the boot carpet and a sound deadening sponge thingy!!

In the paperwork for my Toledo's history I noticed that the fuel flap motor had been replaced on mine at some point in the past.

Could be a pattern forming here !

I agree, much better to have a fuel flap connected to the central locking.

All motors fail at some point in time. What bugs me is that they don't have a fail-safe installed.
I don't want to have to take the boot apart to open the lid!

this happened to me a few times, but found out it was wy own stupid fault. ignition has to be turned all the way to off for the switch to work. was just about to get the screwy out the boot to hack my way in!

few weeks ago i got a bloke ask me at a petrol station:
"sorry mate, as you have a seat, do you know how i can open the fuel flap on this?"
he points to his courtesy car which was a seat... cant remember which though..
anyway he said his wife had a polo and its much the same car but the button wasnt in the same place...

after 5 mins of pressing poking and generally trying everything in the car i gave up...

went to pay.

came back and saw him filling up...

"it just pulled open" he said with an imbarissed grin...

doh! :roflmao:
