View Full Version : My 'best' insurance quote
Hi,
Just thought I'd post this as I can't see a 'best quote' sticky or anything and thought it would be useful for reference.
Leon Cupra R (04 plate)
10k p.a.
Unmodified
Me? 25 y.o. 1 claim in 2003, no points, 3 yrs unprotected NCB, insuring my (female!) partner as well who has no claims but 3 points as is also 25.
Best quote £572.70 from Greenlight. £250 excess.
Elephant wanted £730 but with £150 excess (without the g/f it was £830)
Adrian Flux, moneysupermarket.com, confused.com all came in more expensive.
I'm with Noel Dazely right now and am waiting for the underwriters to get back to me - then I'll know which one to plump for!
Will keep you posted.

The problem is that insurance is specific to your circumstances and/or location so what's good for you may not be best for someone else.
Just trying to maybe, hopefully, do someone a favour and save them some legwork that I spent hours over the weekend doing.
If it's useless feel free to delete the thread.
for an lcr that don't sound bad for my FR tdi 130 mines £500 excess £250 from admiral, did you try them? i haven't tried green light as i don't have any hardcore mods!
Haven't tried them.
My 'old' car (swapping on Saturday) is TDi 130 (the 'sport' which came before the FR). That was £570 with remap declared.
Noel Dazely wanted an extra £300 to swap to my Cupra R for the duration of my policy (4 months!) AND the excess was still £500!
Told them where to shove it, but I have to sacrifice 8 months building up no claims. But when the right car comes along...

Have you tried More Than? Seem to be keen to give competitive rates for young(ish) drivers, and advertise as such. Do it online.
Free breakdown cover too away from home.
