Anyone upgraded their suspension on a Toledo TDi ?

If so what did you go for ?

Cheers

I switched the shocks only! Went for the bilstein sports and am extremely pleased. Not sure about U, but I did not want to lower the car (it's already very low up front).

Front: VE3-4407 Rear: BE3-2623

These are the HD set (Think they're marketed as bilstein sport, not the bilstein sprint). They're about 15% stiffer than stock, but have the best compression and rebound settings.

Mine were bought in Andorra for 400euros which is an awesome price (about half what I'd pay hear).

Don't want to nag but are you sure you want to lower Ur car 40mm??
The reason why I'm asking is have you looked at the front underside of your car? It's really low, I keep smacking the sh*t out the underside of my car (although it was much worse with the stock setup).

I would like the car lower. Now whether that is a good or bad idea will depend how slow I want to go over speed bumps, etc

Most of my driving is on dual carriageway and motorway to work but I do have to go out and about at times and the road quality varies greatly.

I suspose if the shocks and springs are hard enough it shouldn't hit ground too often.

Mines a 110 TDI so maybe its not as low as your 150 TDI in standard setup.

will have a look at this before I buy anything though.

Whats hanging low up front that will hit and is it plastic or metal ?

The difference between the 110 & 150 is minimal. The block size on the tdi's are pretty big. Due to the this about 60-70% of the oil pan is below the front spoiler height.
It get worse!! (in my case at least;) ) the oil pan is made out of aluminum so a big ding = big $$$$ to replace oil pan.
While on the OE suspension I was actually thinking of getting a metalic guard made to protect the oil pan. As I mentioned it is better now.

Not really. There is a company in northern Portugal willing to make them out of carbon fiber, but the cost was big many and needed the car for a few days. Not an option IMO. Was thinking of having one made by a locally out of aluminum.

Haven't checked if there's one for the golf. Also not sure if a golf one would fit.
If you do descide to lower the car, it might be better to use linear uprated springs instead of progressive rate springs.

What diameter? :hammer:

Asking 'cos I don't think any suspension upgrade would do much if you're still on 15's ~ there's just too much "sproing" in the tyre sidewalls.

I noticed a big difference with 16's.

15" at present - 195/65

then my comment stands :)

I reckon you'd feel a benefit with 16's.....moreso with 17"s.....but with 15's you'l just feel more "sproing" :(

Good point mik!
I noticed quite a big change when going up front the stock 16" to 17", but I'm sure the change from 15" to 16" would be greater. Starting to wonder what lightning up the corners would be like. I know the unsprung weight makes quite a difference as well.

Looks like a 17" upgrade first followed by shocks.

Now if only I could get the last 2 lock nuts off.........

Have already sent out a mail to one of the better tuners that sells VW motorsport equipment. Lets hope he can find something.
