anyone suffering loss of power similar to turbo failure/boost issues, may be faulty air mass meter.
to check this (no fault on vag com normally) tape over half the inlet side in the airbox lid and drive the car. if it is back to normal replace the air mass meter!
this temp fix will be okay for short term til parts swapped.
this is from my personal experience as an RAC patrol but do so at your own risk.
It basically fools the air mass meter to thinking there is more air as speeds flow past sensor etc
