View Full Version : Front door lock is broken
Chaps,
Need to get an idea on a price for a driver's side front door handle for a P-reg Cordoba SX (1.6).
Actually - that may be misleading ; the handle still operates without any problem, however the pin that is connected to the locking barrel within the handle seems to have sheared off.
Any idea what parts I would need to order to repair it?
Also, my remote central locking has never worked since I purchased the car second hand and I've tried the various solutions found on this site to re-synch the keys. Is there something else that can be done by the main dealer?
I pretty much resigned to getting a dealer to perform the repairs but I'm concious that I've been shafted by them before so I'm looking for a ballpark figure (although I won't mention any names!).
Hope you can help,
-Gregor-

It sounds like you need an Excentric, steel paddle (which do break easily), but really needs diagnosis to confirm no other parts necessary. Probably half hour to fit that, and we would charge half an hour to recode the keys. Please bear in mind diagnosis will also cost you and that could be anything.

Thanks for the info. Eccentric indeed :)
I've attached a hastily drawn diagram to show exactly the bit that's broken.

Yep, excentric required (6K4837223B or 6K3837223 depending if 2 or 4 dr) bout £1.50 each. BTW nice diagram ;-).

Tim
Thanks chaps. I think you both may have saved me quite a bit of cash. The re-fitting looks pretty easy, judging by the hazy black and white drawings of the Haynes manual :)

YW !
Okay - just got myself a quote.
/me tries to keep a straight face ...
Just around 75 quid to get a 90p part fitted :)
I think I'll try it myself and if I fail, then I'll take the £75 slap in the face.
Tim - is it possible for me to simply order the part from yourself and I'll fit it myself (or rather, get my father-in-law to do it while he's servicing the car!)?
I think I am going to need the spring and clip also as these are currently jangling at the bottom of the door.
My shiny yellow green beast is a two-door. Is mail order possible?

Gregor,
Yes we can do that, £1.65 P&P and assuming you need all the parts for the assembly, parts cost is £3.32 bringing the total to £5.84 including the VAT. Parts included are the excentric, both springs, the clip and guide shoulder.
Please give me a call on 01908-351199 to confirm you would like me to order these, and we can arrange payment and delivery details.
Regards,
Tim Wood
Sold!
I'll give you a call tomorrow. Bit late in the evening to be bothering you.
Thanks, again, for your help.

My lock finally gave up the ghost today! how did you get on with fixing yours? any pointers?
i might just get my keys recoded and leave it! you dont need it if the remote works!
Funny you should mention it, I just got all the parts from Tim at Milton Keynes SEAT today.
Took me well over three minutes to fit :) I kept dropping the spring!
Probably a good idea to remove the handle and check what's wrong just to be sure.
Hey, ive come across this forum on google.
I read the problem the other guy was having with his seat cupra.
And ihave the exact problem with my seat cordoba.
Both paddle things are broken off, the hoop on both locks are fine though, just the paddles are broken and those circle things that look like bolts have come off too. I was just wandering if i could get some of those off you? the paddle sets or whatever they are called. A locksmith said he could install them if i can get the parts. Its for a 1997 seat cordoba. Please let me know if you can help, and by the way, im in australia. would really appreciate your help! thanks!!!!
and please quote me too!
