View Full Version : AutoWorld - Chesterfield
I took my Leon there for it's 60k service today (well, my girlfriend did). They have only just opened the SEAT franchise, but the service was A1 - 100%.
They even noticed that I had a number plate bulb blown (blown for last 30k miles and never noticed by other dealers), the rear window washer pipe had come adrift and that the brake fluid hadn't been changed.
I paid little over £400 for the 60k cambelt serive pus the little extras. Bargin, plus an excelent service...they even returned called quickly!!!!
:D :D :D

Well, I dropped my Ibiza off at AutoWorld Chesterfield on Saturday for it's first service - I pick it up again tonight.
So far the guys seemed very helpful and professional; Leigh the Business Manager sorted out my Maintenance Plan application at short notice (went away and asked Seat UK some questions about the plan, and rang me back same day with the answers as promised), and Mark the service chap seemed on the ball too.
I got a courtesy car because I booked way in advance - a new Seat Arosa 1.0 - it must be the slowest car in the world ! But at least I got one. Fuel tank was empty though - warning light already on...
Fingers crossed I'll get it back in one piece (unlike Snoopstah's Leon...!)

I got a phone call from service chap Mark this afternoon, saying they'd found the cause of the mysterious airbag problem that means my warning light has been lit for ages, without any apparent fault codes. By plugging in the "bigger computer" (?) they found a fault with the driver's airbag igniter. I'm chuffed they've found it, and they want to keep it another day to make sure they sort it out. Then I won't have the niggling worry that my airbag wouldn't go off if needed !
So far so good!
I've got supposedly the same problem. Don't expect it to be fixed in a hurry! Mine hasn't and I wonder how many dealer trips it will take to sort it out... :-( If you do get it fixed quickly I'll be interested to hear what they did to yours..!

edz - Is your Ibiza a MK4 (latest shape?)
When I booked my car into Autoworld about a month ago, the guy in front of me at the service desk also had the same problem - Ibiza with airbag warning light lit, no faults codes, etc. He'd had his dash insert changed to try and fix it (can't see why that would fix it though  ) but to no avail.
I'm hopeful that they've actually found a fault now - it's a pain in the arse getting my car there so don't want to visit too often.
The service chap did mention he'd seen a bulletin recently, regarding airbags...

OK, another update....I get to drive the Arosa for another day :hide:
Mark called me up again today, for a progress update.
Apparently, the airbag fault is being caused by a short circuit in the wiring
They know which wires are shorting together, but they've still got to trace them through the car to find where the damage is.
Not what you expect of a new car....but at least they're on to it now. I'd rather get it done in go, than take it back repeatedly...

Nnnnggghh, still not ready. They're still tracing the wiring and pulling half my dash out

Well, wiring was all fixed yesterday and reassembled - only for the airbag itself to throw up a warning.
Looks like the airbag failed and caused the wiring to short out.
edz -> Maybe this happened to yours ?
Should get it back tomorrow, assuming new airbag arrives on time.

Still at dealers, needs a new airbag control module too.
It's not the dealers fault though, they are doing their best. I went there to retrieve something out of the car today, and was relieved to see lots of protective covers over the seats, steering wheel etc.
Apparently there is a problem on some Ibizas, where the steering column wears through the airbag wiring  and this is what's happened to mine - but it's knackered the airbag AND the control module in the process.
Now looking at Tuesday...

Sorry to hear about your problems :(
Got mine back today at least (Ibiza, not one of those horrible big Leon things, by the way) but the engine check light is still on :(
(Oh, and Mark the Service Guy is the one who crashed my car, so keep your eye on him ;))

I finally got my car back from Autoworld today....yeehaa !
They finally managed to fix the problem (these are the bits they changed (http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=227005) in their bid to track down the fault) .
Even though it took 3 weeks, I'm entirely happy with their service - from how they've explained it was a hard fault to track down, and some of the parts were on a long delivery time from Seat UK.
Mark the service manager was very apologetic for the wait, and thanked me for being so patient.
Apparently they'd had another Ibiza in with a similar airbag problem, which also took them quite a while to fix over 2 visits.
All in all their attitude and service has been spot on, very professional and polite.
I was worried that after 3 weeks of being shuffled around in their car parks, it might have picked up some door dings, but it's still completely unmarked.
I also asked if they definitely used the right PD engine oil - as I've heard about other dealers using the ordinary bulk oil that goes in the non-PD engines. Mark called up my job card parts on the computer screen, and also an example of the non-PD oil to show they were different. Also on the job card someone had hand-written "PD Oil" so I'm as confident as I can be (without doing it myself) they used the right stuff.
Anyway, thumbs up from me.

I just got a letter from Autoworld. Apparently they've been trying to ring me (which explains the "unknown" caller on my mobile!) to ask if I was satisfied with their service and if there are any issues they can help with.
If only more dealers took the time to follow up like this !

I've always found them good in that way....

Another thumbs up for Autoworld Chesterfield.
Just had my 20k service done, and a couple of other niggles put right. Just as professional as before, and they washed the car. I even get to keep the half-litre or so of PD engine oil as a top up. They've even given me a little fabric pouch (complete with VW logo on the top) to keep it in, which velcroes into the boot.
They said that as the oil is only supplied in 1 litre sizes, the service cost is for 5 litres, but only 4-and-a-bit are used. I thought that was pretty good, never had any dealer do that before.
On of the problems I asked them to look at was my clutch, which has been slipping lately. Sod's law meant that it worked fine when they test drove it, so the service manager (Mark) agreed to come out on a test drive with me driving to try and demonstrate the fault. I did manage to make it slip, he was conviced, and a new clutch is on order.
Top job.
