Just after some advice from you guys, I currently drive a Leon Cupra but I must be getting old or something as I am thinking of trading it in for a V5 (170). So could you let me know how the car drives, how comfortable it is, perfromance etc. Also does it come with ISOFIX fixings.

Cheers

Hi,

I am in the process of doing exactly what you are contemplating. Due to another little one on the way, we are having to upgrade from the Cupra to a V5 due to the benefit of the larger boot for the copious amounts of stuff you have to carry around!

I will be test driving a V5 this weekend, but looking at all the postings and reviews, I expect not to be disappointed.:D

As well as the additional toys (Sat Nav, half leather seats etc), apparently the engine sounds great.

I will let you know how I get on.

Cheers Phil, that will be great I've got it down to 2 cars the V5 or a Honda Accord 2.0i Exec VTEC(I must be getting old  ). Roughly the same price to change but different toys to play with.

I really like my V5. Lots of toys and it's a little bit different as well, suits me now I'm too old to wear my baseball cap backwards. The engine has real character and does sound beautiful. It's a bit heavy on juice around town (probably 'cos I like hearing the engine) bit it's pretty good on a run. The engine takes around 10K to loosen up but keeps pace with most hot hatches. Mid-range acceleration is very good and it's easy to end up going much faster than you thought when overtaking (sorry officer, and thank you for the caution - can't help but wonder if I'd have got away with it in a Yellow Cupra R..)

The only downside is the ride quality. I've not driven a Cupra R but the ride is certainly no better the Leon S or standard Cupra around town. Crashes in potholes, etc. badly - over-damped and undersprung. Why can't VAG get the chassis right on their cars?

I reckon the car looks heaps better than the Leon. SEAT are using the Toledo in the European Touring Car Championship 'cos the aerodynamics are better. I've cruised at 120+ (where legal, of course) no problem.

Having the beige interior stops "black hole" syndrome as well and makes it a really bright car, but don't expect two adults in the back for anything length of time if the the front's got real people sitting there.

The new Honda looks to Mazda/Vectra/Mondeomobile to me but you should be able to get good deals on the old model. I just can't see someone who likes SEAT in a Honda (unless it's an NSX)..

If I might offer some advice as a Toledo V5 owner with little ones, look for another car. The V5 does have good performance and great amount of boot space, however like the Leon the back seat space is very limited. With 2 child seats fitted unless you are short you'll find the little ones kicking the back of your seat.

I've only found one car that has enough boot and cabin space as well as reasonable performance, and thats the Passat Turbo, unfortunately its too expensive.
Why won't Seat do a Passat sized Car?

I wouldn't bother looking at the Accord as it's not got a lot of boot space, which is important with kiddies.

I think VAG might not let them? I think VAG wants everyone to buy VWs and Audi's for themselves and then buy Seats for their kids.

Cheers for the comments guys, sorry to say that the Accord SE Exec. won the day, heated leather seats, Bose sound system, lots of other toys and a big enough boot.

I will stay on the site though.

I've seen it as well. I think Seat is supposed to be one of VAGs sporty car companies.

Well, I took the plunge and sold my Cupra to my brother and have now got a nice shiny Black Magic V5, with loads and loads of toys.

Had to get the V5 in the end what with another little one on the way, and more space required for the junk you have to carry around.

Lovely sound to the engine, and can't stop finding little gadgets I didn't know existed!!

Cool.

I'm up on Joydens Wood. What have you got at the moment, so I can look out for you?

It has got my wife's personalised number plate on but don't really want to publish the actual plate for all and sundry to see

Suffice it to say that her name is Sian and when you see the plate, you'll know if that's the car or not.
