I'm quote honestly shocked at how expensive car insurance is now.

I'm 21 years old 0 NCB to use on the car and I want to insure a new 1.4TDI Seat Ibiza fully comp.

The best quote i've had is £960 from directline and the second best quote has been £1050, and i've tried 15 different places.

I really didn't think i would be that much of a risk to an insurer. When I passed my test I drove as a named driver on a car for 2 years. Then sold the car and bought a bike which I now have 2 years no claims on, and since I passed my test i've been driving a transit van through work which will be 4 years of claim free motoring now.

How can they get away with it?

ohh and greenlight wont insure me because I don't have 1year NCB. It's so artifical that having insurance in your own name for a year is worth more then driving 3 different vehicles doing high milleage on someone elses policy with no accidents or claims.

Being a name driver doesn't really do you any favours especially at your age.

To be honest if it is a new car then I am not surprised it is as much as £1050, in fact looks spot on. Until you build up your own NCB then I am afraid your going to get those prices. Best thing to do is ring every single insurer and state your best quote and get them to work against each other.

Welcome to SCN by the way, Ibiza is a cracking car!

I have the same thing almost mate, 21 but i have 1 years NCB.
Ive been driving for 4 and a bit years tho, been a named driver on a policy for 3 years (no claims or accidents) and been driving company veichles for the same time aswell (high mileage, with no claims or accidents) and still getting silly quotes :(
but its as Jonjay says, should of built up my own NCB's sooner and a website insurance application form doenst allow you to explain your situation unfortunatly :(

If you can get proof from your work insurer that you have had no accidents, claims and convictions whilst you have been on their comercial policy some insurers may give you a discount. Try Adrian Flux or Noel Dazley?

As im sure you are aware you cant use bike bonus on a car :( a bit of a poo. Having bonus to your name on a car goes along way, especially when your young.
